Stayed at this hotel whilst travelling around Ecuador and Galapagos. Room was small but clean and comfortable. Choose the garden rooms if you want a quiet place to rest and good view of courtyard. Location very convenient for both old and new towns of quito and in a safe area. Managers and staff friendly and helpful, available at all hours.... more

We stayed at La Cartuja in July. The hotel is in a very good location just a block from Casa de La Cultura museum and Amazonas Avenue. It is also near the Mariscal area where restaurants and bars are. The rooms are nicelly done in yellow and blue. We stayed on the second floor facing the garden. The staff is... more

We were booked for 3 nights based on reviews from TA - we checked out after one. I thought it was a boutique B&B from what I read on-line. It had a pretty courtyard like in the photo, but our courtyard room was dingy and musty. The bathroom shower had mold around the tile and on the ceiling- I wore... more

This was an excellent choice for our two nights in Quito, travelling as a family of 5. The hotel made the transfers to and from the airport very easy for us. Arrangements went smoothly, with all booking made by email. We had two adjacent rooms with bathrooms - everything very clean and neat, and perfectly safe. The Hotel has a... more

We stayed at the La Cartuja hotel 3 nights before and 2 nights after our trip to the Galapagos. We payed 50$/night, and I think what you get for that price is adequate. The location of the hotel is fine, about 3 blocks from the Mariscal's district main artery, Av. Amazonas, with lots of restaurants in walking distance. The area... more

My girlfriend and I went to Quito in mid-August of 2006. During most of our stay in Quito we stayed at La Cartuja. Our room was so cleanly, the staff were very helpful and the morning breakfast was very comforting especially in the peaceful courtyard. While we were in Ecuador, we stayed at La Cartuja for 2 nights and then... more

The hotel was very cute -- darling room, tiny bathroom, nice courtyard. Service was friendly and helpful, and got us a taxi at 4:30 am. Breakfast was great. 24 hour computer with internet access. Location was great - near other embassies, so very safe, and about 2 blocks from Quito's top museum -- half way between the airport and old... more

Nice hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, location is good and rooms are a good size. For the price they charge it is very good value and I would recommend it. It is also important to point out that it is very quite as Quito traffic can be quite noisy. It is not the Marriot or Swissotel but you get... more

I spent 5 days in this hotel. The staff were very friendly and allowed my friend who lives in Quito into the hotel so we could have beer in the garden. When her friends have stayed in other hotels she has not been allowed past the front desk. A nice touch for a small hotel is the room service. It's... more

Rude owner made stay very unpleasant. Declared my signature on travelers checks looked forged and refused to accept after I had signed 9 of them in presence of their staff. Forced us to rush to AMEX office to exchange and was not at all troubled by the hassle this added to our trip (We almost missed van to Otavalo). Neat... more

Rude guest. I politely told him that wouldn´t be able to cash his travelers since the signatures were very different. I politely asked him to pay us in cash or credit card. I politely asked him to please cash his travelers in a bank nearby . (This took him no more than 15 minutes). He was very rude to my...
