We stayed at the Vieja Cuba on three occasions over two weeks as we were on a tour that took in the Galapagos and Amazon Basin. Being 15 minutes from the airport was a bonus. The staff there were extremely helpful, even letting us leave some of our belongings at the hotel when we were elsewhere. The fact that there... more

This is a great hotel at a reasonable price. It was a bit of a walk to the colonial part of Quito but a really great room. The staff were really lovely and helpful. I had breakfast included and it was good as well. more

A group of 11 of us stayed for several nights at his hotel and I would not recommend it and would not stay there again. First, the hotel has no elevators and at 9,300 ft. climbing up and down stairs is not a lot of fun. All of our rooms were on the 3rd floor except one which was on... more

We live in Ecuador and have had considerable experience with a variety of hotels in the country. For our trip to Quito we selected Vieja Cuba because it was well rated on TripAdvisor. We checked out the hotelviejacuba.com website and made the reservations by telephone. For our comments on the positives with the hotel, scroll down in this report. Our... more

We were two couples staying overnight in Quito overnight on our way to Galapagos. We had booked our Galapagos trip through a tour company and Vieja Cuba was one of our choices for each end of our trip. We chose it because it looked charming and looked like it had character. We had asked for decent sized rooms as shown... more

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for four nights starting on 2/16/08. We absolutely loved it, it was spotless and the hotel staff was extremely helpful. You felt very safe because there is a security guard on 24 hrs a day and they lock the front gate so only people staying there can come in. The maids did... more

A great little hotel with super clean rooms / bathrooms with a homely feel, good atmosphere, pleasant colour scheme and well situated. The staff was very helpful and even though some of them did not speak much english we managed quite alright. Eggs were the standard fare for breakfast but if you wanted fruit and yogurt then you had to... more

My wife and I liked the hotel very much. Lovely, clean hotel with a great service and a very friendly atmosphere. Also, the lacation is very nice (in the business district of Quito, close by Marriott hotel). I would definitely recommend this hotel to people traveling to Quito or just making stop-over in Quito on your way to Galapagos (Ioved... more

The hotel is very rustic and I liked that it was different (converted colonial) than most cookie cutter hotels. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. They would call taxis for us and, generally, point us in the right direction! The rooms were very clean and the maid always left a few bottles of bottled water for us. The cable... more

The hotel is clean and the breakfasts are very good. This is a unique hotel with 3 floors via a staircase. Good location. The problem we had was the roof leaked in our room. They did move us to another room which was acceptable. The staff was pleasant. The beautiful wood floors creak so stay on the upper floors. more
