Lovely old hotel in great location. I walked from the train station - it was a bit of a hike and they were tearing up the streets but it wasn't too bad with a backpack. They were very friendly when I arrived and had room even though I didn't have a reservation (thanks to my dodgy travel agent). Nice but... more

We loved our stay at the Metropole. It was very centrally located, within walking distance of many places. The staff was very very helpful. We had an incident with a cab driver and they were great about helping us resolve it. The rooms are nice, but a bit dated and the attempt at making this some grand European estate fell... more

The Metropole Hotel has a central location in Alexandria main square. The staff was really nice. We just stayed for one night (not even that) on our way from Cairo to Frankfurt. They even prepared for us a box with breakfast at 1 a.m. !! The hotel is kept in a every "Agatha Christie style"...The only thing is that they... more

Popping to Alexandria for the weekend, there were a few hotels to choose from. In the end Le Metropole was decided upon. The reviews in the Lonely Planet and the Rough Guide seemed to suggest that it was a nice hotel. The hotel is a great building.
