We had a wonderful stay at the bab al shams. The food was fantastic and the rooms were very nice. My one request would be that they require the children to stay in the kiddie pool, or at least have one adult only pool. On the weekends, there are many children in the pools. more

The location in the middle of the desert feels (and is) miles from anywhere. The main road to Dubai from the hotel is pretty trying with lots of traffic and construction delays. LOCATION: Excellent. You get the feeling that you are really in the middle of the desert and yet only 45 minutes away from the main parts of Dubai. Jumeirah run a bunch of hotels around the world. That in itself should say "good quality" or "sure bet". Bab Al Shams delivers on location and facilites, but staff managemnt sucks.
