I usually do not write bad reviews about the hotels I stayed in. Actually I never had a bad experience in any country I travelled. But this is the necessary exception. I am writing this review to warn any future travelers about what they can expect if they decide to stay at this hotel. I will try to be as... more

Five of us (2 adults and boys aged 15, 13 and 8) spent a week at the Desert Rose Resort in Hurghada on the Red Sea. Having seen other reviews, our expectations were not high but our chosen hotel was overbooked and we were switched to the Desert Rose a few days before departure. The hotel is very big (over... more

I read reviews prior to December 2007 and it sounded OK but from January 2008 the reviews became more and more negative and frightening. I tried to transfer the booking to alternative accommodation but Excel travel refused - not surprising as we were the only 2 Brits in the place. The food was even worse than described in reviews as... more

We were moved to this hotel by the local representative after problems at another hotel. We only stayed one night. It is a sea of concrete with a number of accommodation blocks scattered around. The staff are very nice and helpful and the rooms are OK but there isn't much of a beach and the areas around the pools are... more

Just got back from the Desert Rose on an all inclusive, to sum it up Hotel very tied!!! Having stayed in a 4 star last year at Maras Alam and having the most amazing time, i was so looking forward to visiting Hughada what a let down!! Food was cold and bland breakfast was the best meal, although you could... more

The Desert Rose is in my opinion a good budget hotel for those wanting a cheap, short break with some sun, nothing more. It is not by any stretch of the imagination a 5* hotel. Rooms are clean but basic, food is adequate, staff are very nice but largely untrained and the entertainment was amateur high school standard that made... more

A few nights at this hotel were part of our trek all around Egypt. The Red Sea is a stunning place and we were glad to be there to relax. We had a very nice room, with a large bathroom and a balcony. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The beach is gorgeous, and I had a... more

I would say most of which I could write here has been written before so I won't go over too much again. The hotel, in my opinion, is of a three/four star standard. The resort of Hurghada, according to local people we spoke with, is very much a Russian resort so it's not suprising that the hotel guests are mainly... more
