Having had to leave Carmelia Haven as it was appalling this was a fantastic find. The hotel is in a great location, ideal for exploring on foot or in tut tut (or is it tuc tuc...) Our room was great, very clean and private and the staff were very helpful. Food also good. more

Our check-in at this hotel was excellent, with complimentary drinks and flower necklaces. Our room was in a pseudo-tribal hut and was impeccably clean with unremarkable but pleasant en suite. Service was prompt, efficient and polite. The staff went out of their way to be helpfu. The restaurant and bar set their menu at almost London prices, but the food... more

We stayed at this hotel in November, it is a respite in the hustle- bustle of India. The rooms are like treehouses -very comfortable clean. The service was extraordinary. The manager had the chef prepare us a special dinner by ourselves "dining under the stars" in a private section of the patio. It was fantastic. Definetly stay here...we will be... more

Although the cottages are well equiped, clean and comfortable, noise was a problem. Our first cottage was about 8ft from a wall and so had no outlook and it was also very close to a factory with noise from a generator. After considerable negotiation, we got a room change the following day. We were offered other properties but they were... more

We stayed at this hotel as part of a bus tour group, so checkin, meals etc. were pre-arranged. Service was excellent for our group. And we stayed only one night. However, we were very satisfied in all respects. Yes, the rooms are rustic but just fine; this is not a hotel in New York but on a mountain. The pool... more

We stayed at this hotel recently during a tour with Kuoni. We should have been at the Cardamom Hills, but had a change (upgrade supposedly) at the last minute. The room we were first given was right by the road with the hooting of horns and all the associated racket of streets in India. The room was on stilts and... more

It was a big let down after having experienced the hospitality and fantatsic infrastructure of other Taj hotels. Rooms are dark and stuffy. Infrastructure needs an urgent overhaul. Front office staff definitely needs training and grooming. Good thing about the hotel is its location. Food was very good but very expensive. Overall it dampened the pleasure of staying in a... more

Very nice hotel which is walking distance to the next door town of Kumily. The food in the restaurant is very expensive though compared to other places but its very good. Nice large rooms with a large bed - definately worth staying at in this region. more

Having stayed at the Taj chain of hotels before, we were expecting the usual high standards. how disappointed we were. The rooms were dark, damp smelling, in need of refurbishment. The bath had mildew all around it, there was hair in the bath, and there were greasy finger prints all over the windows. The dining area and reception, were similarly... more

This hotel is as peaceful as you can get. The rooms are located far apart from each other so you can do things like read outside with anybody interfering. The inside of the rooms were very nice and clean. I received a 45 minute massage there that was great (only negative is the massager didn't speak much English). The staff... more
