The mixed reviews that Losari gets on TripAdvisor left me booking just two nights. But within a few minutes of arriving we decided that we should add an extra night to the stay. The great appeal is the setting; a small working coffee plantation strewn with renovated and salvaged buildings. The estate has colonial buildings; now the club house and... more

The 3-hour trip from Solo was uninspiring made worse by a particularly sullen driver. Twilight soon descended but our spirits lifted as we approached the property. The old station, the misty lantern lighted path leading to the grand clubhouse were indeed spectacular. We gleefully anticipated 3 magical nights with the resort (10th-13th August 2007). Alas … ACE A gem of... more

First of all, I'd like to agree about some things that many people who have waxed lyrical over Losari have already said. It is true that the grounds are spectacular, the service impeccable & the food at Java Red is delectable. Plus, the Hamam is probably the best spa in the whole area. It is beautifully decked and the therapists... more

We just got back from a 4 day stay at Losari Plantation. The location is unbeatable, the old charm of wooden, creaking floor, outdoor bathroom, fabulous mountains and lush greenery are just a few memories we will keep with us for a long time. I find myself thinking and wish that we get up early morning greeted by the majestic... more

Java and Javanese - Central just wonderful. Losari is not for everybody, but it was certainly everything I wanted from a stay in a working coffee plantation. The staff are probably the most helpful I have ever met. Arrival Our driver had a cracking sense of humour, as we had a one hour delay for one of our group of... more

We spent two days at Losari in January 2008. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with the resort set atop a valley in a working coffee plantation. The old Dutch plantation house, lovingly restored and now the "club-house" lends colonial grandeur to the property. The extensive landscaped gardens are immaculately kept. However, the accommodation we stayed in was dark and a... more

We stayed two nights on Thursday and Friday and enjoyed the whole relaxing and social experience. The airport pick-up in Solo was efficient and the driver spoke good English and stopped whenver we wanted. In the car, we had bottled water and two small jars of cheese sticks and cookies to tide us through a ride lasting almost three hours.... more

Stayed at Losari for three nights in March. Firstly if booking be sure to book into either the Arum or the Ambar villas these have the outlook over the valley across to the mountains. The ambar villas are the top floor (Merapi villas) and the arum are on the ground floor(Andong villas). We had booked into one of the arum... more

A dutch colonial setting peppered with smiles and earnest attitude, this lush plantation is surrounded by natural beauty, majestic volcanoes and all manner of rather loud insects. Wasps, butterflies and mosquitoes abound but if you are well fortified (with any combination of coil, spray and electrical repellents) and plug your ears, you might even get some good hours of sleep.... more

We've just returned after spending 5 nights in Losari with our two children. Prior to our visit, we had read various postings and had a fair idea of what to expect. However, nothing can prepare you for the gorgeous setting of the resort. It is surrounded by mountains, and our villa looked right out to Mt. Merapi. The lush grounds... more
