in need of minor repairs ,paint, and new bedspreads; clean; atrium nice but also in need of some upkeep. Complimentary breakfast good; smoking allowed in the area where cooking is taking place-not a good practice. Noisy on the highway side; overall experience okay for the price. Will stay there again if I am needing to stay in a cheaper hotel.... more

A friend and I stayed on a Saturday night so we could go to the lounge attached to the hotel. When we arrived to our room, there was a toilet sitting outside the door on the sidewalk. Lovely!! We asked the front desk to move it and it was moved but not until the next day when we were checking... more

This place is a [--]! They set me up in the so-called recently upgraded wing. If it was upgraded in the 70's I would've believed them. For a newly remodeled room it was amazing that all the blinds were bent, some broken and none of them had the rod to adjust them. The curtains' rods were also broken. The bed... more

We went to Texas for a family reunion in July of 2007. Since we live in Colorado, we decided to stop in Amarillo, which was the 1/2 way point. I had stayed at the Kiva about 5 years earlier and decided to try it again. What a nightmare! My daughter and I both have asthma, and my 7 year old... more

I stayed at this property in 2004. I needed a laugh so, just out of curiosity, I checked to see comments from those who have stayed at this place since. Incredible! Someone could write a country song just using travelers' comments! How can this place continue to do business? Unless you are broke and/or homeless, find another place to lay... more

Our first choice of a hotel was booked so we tried to use a coupon for this hotel. The coupon was for the unrenovated part of the hotel. Instead we paid extra for a renovated room. If the room we stayed in was renovated I don't want to see one that wasn't! It was dirty, there were burnt holes in... more

"La Kiva" means "The Kiva" A Kiva is a subterranean room dug out of the dirt and rock which is used for religious rituals. While I am not sure about the religious rituals, the subterranean dirt room is certainly an acurate description. I went in with my wife for a room inspection, and we were not impressed. We then asked... more

My wife and me stayed here during a trip through the USA. This place was a really good find. Firstly, it's easy to get there...just take one of the close Highway exits. Then there's the price...we got it for 40$ (had a coupon...coupon books you get at many Fast Food places and Gas Stations). The inside of the Hotel is... more

Married on the 11th of August, arrived at Hotel exhausted and ready to rest before leaving town the next day. 1st thoughts were parking lot did not look safe. Desk clerk then gave poor directions to room 605 on the 3rd floor, all the way back down to ask again, different person better directions. Loaded ALL of our things up... more

Found this motel in one of the travel coupon books. When we saw it we could not believe the low price could be correct. Older outside, but well kept. Beautifully remodeled rooms. Huge Atrium inside with live trees and plants, and fish pools. Game room in there also, as well as "fixed your way" hot breakfast in the kitchen area... more
