Went to this hotel with my wife and 12-yr-old daughter. We all enjoyed it very much.. The location is very good, only two doors down from the famous Copacabana Palace. The breakfast is great, and the staff is very friendly, albeit with very limited command of English language. more

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Astoria Palace. Its spotlessly clean, staff are friendly & helpful and its in a good location. We stayed for 4 nights and then came back for 1 night at the end of our trip so was in 2 different rooms, 1st was a standard room which had a double bed... more

Splendid hotel. Modern, fresh and spotlessly clean. Simply a step across the road onto the beach. Unlike most commentators, we had absolutely NO bad experiences in Rio. Booked for 2 nights stayed for 4. Marcel at the front desk was particularly nice to us. Roof-top pool sun heated, so cool, but perfect for dipping in. Views of copacobana, and Christ... more

This hotel is nicely situated right across from the beach. The staff is friendly, and the free breakfast buffet in the morning was pretty good. The rooms were somewhat clean, though when it rained heavily, there was some water leaking into the room from the windows. This didn't affect anything too bad, but if we had anything on the windowsill,... more

Hotel nicely located next to the beach but for sure no way a 4 hotel star hotel in terms of equipment/service and in the low range for a 3 stars. Starting on the positive side as it will be shorter, the breakfast seems to be the best experience in the hotel. Really nice buffet with a lot of variety of... more

Stayed at Hotel Astoria over Christmas this year. We arrived late on Christmas Eve. The staff was super helpful in helping us find a place to eat, helping orient ourselves and generally have a good time. I had some trouble with my mobile, and one of their doormen came with me to the store to help sort it out. The... more

When I next go back to Rio I would not hestate to stay at the Astoria Palace. I went planning on only staying for a week and ended up staying for 3 weeks. The hotel is either new or just remodeled. The Hotels employess treated me like family. I got to know them all presonally and would like to thank... more

A very nice hotel with newly rennovated room on 9th floor. Great view, but no balcony. Very modern room with king sized bed, marble floors, great AC, 32" LCD wall mounted TV with many channels, jaccuzzi tub with a really great/strong shower, shaving set/toothrush, mini bar, free safe, and big closet. The room has no outside noise, as the windows block... more

The Astoria Palace although fairly small was easy enough to find, Just head for the centre of Copacabana beach on a bus or taxi, and look for no.1866! Joking aside, my initial thoughts of this hotel were good; I had a junior suite, which was clean and fresh, well sized, with whirlpool bath and shower, toiletries, bidet, minibar, flat screen... more

We stayed here for two nights in September 2007. The location is wonderful, right on Copacabana Beach and a block from the Copacabana Palace. The hotel is amazingly narrow, squeezed between two other buildings. It is new(ish). Reception is modern and the dining room just off the reception is fairly large, as it is quite long. The tiny bar attached... more
