I have always wanted to visit the Amazon jungle and I have to say I had quite high expectations . . and Kapawi fulfilled them all! From the warm welcome at the airstrip, birds, snakes, bugs, pink dolphins, monkeys (three species in one day!), swimming in the river, the night hikes with incredible Achaur guides who missed nothing even tiny... more
Fabulous food! Great guides! You go into the land that time forgot. Similar to stepping into The Lost World tv series. An experience that will live forever in your fondest memories. more
We have travelled to various ecolodges before Kapawi and, to say the least, we were extremley disappointed. Accommodation and food well below the average. Programme extremely dull at best to non-existent at worst (two hours sitting on a river bank in a dug out canoe, fishing with a line does not equal rain forest activity). The staff are outstanding (a mixture of Ecuadorian and local Achuar people), and the visit to an Achuar village stands out as the most memorable experience of all. Add to that early morning (6 am!) parrot spotting, late night canoe trips to sight cayman,... more
My 9 yr. old son and I stayed at Kapawi as part of a 2 week trip to Ecuador last year which also incl. a week in the Galapagos on a ship operated by the same company. It was all fantastic especially Kapawi. The rooms, the guides, everything exceeded expectations. You have quite a bit of choice in structuring the... more
