My husband and I were booked into this hotel via our travel consolidator lanvacations.com. We were terrified of what we would find when we arrived based on the reviews on this site. We made sure to ask for a room facing the river and preemptively asked for a fan, based on the negative comments about the loud street noise and... more

When we arrived at the Hanaqpacha Inn Hotel, we were met by the manager who told us that our room had a plumbing problem so we would be given a room in their "sister" hotel. This second hotel was in a poor location and the room ,which had no screens at the wondows, had a ceiling light fixture that was... more

Stayed here with an OAT tour in October 2008. Originally scheduled to stay 1 night, it was extended to 2 nights because of a rail strike. The location of the hotel is the biggest negative. Down hill from the train station with train tracks directly in front of the hotel, noises from trains and the station are a problem. You... more

Spent one night at Hanaqpacha with OAT group in August 2008. Room was small with bricked up windows, stained carpet. Located off noisy sitting area on second floor the room was stuffy, moldy and smelly. Hotel staff refused to provide a fan. I finally got our tour director on the phone and he convinced hotel staff to bring a fan... more

I stayed at the Hanaqpacha Inn for one night after hiking the Classic Inka Trail. I stayed in a room with two twin beds. After sleeping in a tent for 3 nights, the room was perfectly functional, but certainly not luxurious. The room and bathroom were clean. The room did not have a TV or hairdryer. The service was a... more

We had a terrible room in this hotel. They told us they were completely booked and couldn't switch us to another room. The bathroom was full of mold. The room was extremely small. It smelled of mold and mildew. This was because the windows were bricked up. There was no fan in the bathroom.. They brought us a candle to... more

Pleasant enough, simple hotel. The sound of the river roars throughout the entire building. I especially enjoyed the river views from the breakfast dining area. more

The hotel is a little hard to find. From the train station exit go straight ahead as far as you can (though all the shops/kiosks and turn left. Watch on you right for a ramp that goes left ( we didn't see the ramp and carried our luggage down the steps - DUH!) At the bottom of the ramp turn... more

The best thing about the Hanaqpacha is the location. It is right behind the train station and a short walk from the bus stop to go to Machu Picchu. I found our room kind of gross. Everything was very old and the room was cluttered making it hard to get around. The mattress had holes in it and the toilet... more
