I recently stayed at Hotel Karahe, and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. We stayed in one of their villas located high above the Pacific Ocean. To get to the villa we had to hike up quite a few stairs, but it was all part of the adventure. The view from our villa was spectacular. Every morning the hotel offered a great... more

We have just returned from a 10 day trip to Costa Rica. We booked this Hotel based on location, reviews and price. It was not as good as it could have been. The location was great except for the construction going on right next door. The construction did not bother us because we did not hang around the pool. We... more

If you are fishing, forget about the free breakfast that the hotel offers. They don't serve breakfast until 7 AM. This is the same time you are being picked up to go fishing. The air conditioning could be better. The room refrigerator was noisy and not very cold. Room service never swept up any of the sand that was tracked... more

Manuel Antonio is an amazing place that must not be missed - peaceful beaches, plenty of monkeys! But be sure to book your hotel before you arrive here. This was the only place where we didn't have any hotel reservations in advance, so we were limited in our options. This place is right on a very nice beach, but the... more

The attendents at the reception desk had a poor attitude. We had more days without hot water than those with. The ability to park our cars was difficult due to limited parking. The rooms we were initially assigned were not accessible for us due to age and health. We were assigned rooms not on a hillside but at increased costs.... more

Stayed at this place May 22, 2007. Had reservation for 2 nights but left after 1st night. Place is a dump, poorly maintained, slider to balcony wouldn't close letting in mosquitos, changed rooms, same problem. Bathroom full of mold and hot water almost non-existant. "Buffet" breakfast in the morning was awful, a toaster that didn't work, some fake eggs and... more

After visiting the cloud forest at Monteverde we were ready for hot weather and water we would not freeze in. This was it. The room is basic but we didn't stay in it much. I loved the hammock on the patio, the warm water in the pool, and being right on the beach. My husband loved watching the monkeys coming... more

Hotel Karahe was the least favorite of our hotels in Costa Rica. The rooms are bare-bones and run-down and the mattress was miserably uncomfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is pretty good, but other than that, there aren't many good reasons to stay here. We suggest going a little ways up the hill and staying at... more

a very convenient adresse on the beach with nice restaurant and pool, good breakfast , synpatic staff and large parking. Lot of stairs to arrive to the best lodge up on the hill but you have nice scenic wonderful view at the upper lodge. Even if there is a real risk that the lodge one day soon tumble down and... more

We had a great room but the website misleads about the view. You can look out your room at a nice expanse of grass and see the restuarant, but trees block all the view of the ocean and beach. Beachfront simply means you're on the beach side of the busy road. It's a short walk down to the beach and... more
