This hotel was advertised as a 4 star hotel. The hotel car park proudly puts up 4 stars to signify this as well. Be prepared that this is definitely not a 4 star hotel. I stayed at a 3 star hotel in Jo'burg and it was of a much higher standard than this one. The check-in process was fine. Quite... more

My 19 year old son and I went on a school trip to South Africa with around 25 teenagers and 14 adults for 2 weeks in September 2007. We stayed at Sun City outside Johannesburg and the Beach Hotel in Durban. At the end of the trip, a few of us took an extension to Cape Town, which was a... more

I had been to Capetown twice prior to my stay at the Capetonian. On the earlier vists I stayed at the Southern Sun Waterfront and my experience was unparalled. My first concern with the Capetonian was that the staff at the reception seemed not to be able to provide advice on how to tour the City and at times even... more

We stayed at the Capetonian Hotel for 5 nights in Aug 2007. We picked the hotel primarily because of its close proxmity to the V&A. The pictures we saw of the hotel also seemed very nice. We were under the impression that it was a 4 star hotel, though after staying there, I would say its a good 3 star,... more

I would recommend this hotel to my best friends . We had a beautiful room over looking Signal Hill . The room was large bright and very clean . The staff treated us brilliant . The breakfast was really good . The free shuttle bus to and from the Waterfront runs every hour on the hour . Everything we could... more

Having read some uncomfortable reviews I was anxious about staying in the Capetonian. This was prebooked by the organisers of our scientific conference being held a couple of blocks down the road. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and a front desk parrot who likes to say 'hello' to every customer! The hotel rates are cheap for the... more

We booked the hotel on the internet based on location and value for money. We stayed for five nights on a bed and breakfast basis and from the moment of arrival found the staff most welcoming and helpful. Our room was large and very well appointed and the housekeeping was first class. The variety of the buffet breakfast was extensive... more

The Capetonian is a great base for a lively holiday. I was too busy enjoying life outside to worry about the lack of a view from my room. It was the beginning of winter so prices were very reasonable. I stayed on my own in a large double room - clean sheets and towels every day, room always spotless. A... more

Do not stay at this hotel. You will be sorry. I wish I had spent a few dollars more for a better hotel. The hotel's shuttle, scheduled to pick up guests on the hour at the waterfront, failed to come on several occasions. This first time, I called the hotel and they assured me the van was on its way.... more
