Our first room was dirty with grey mould on the ceiling over the bed. The toilet seat was scratched and stained brown, the shower handle fell off, the T.V. didn`t work, the lights didn`t all work and we could not get a second tea cup. We complained and the next room was only slightly better: the bath tub was dirty,... more

Having stayed 5 days at this place I can´t recommend it at all. We booked this hotel at a travel agent in New Zealand for a reasonable price of 120 NZ$ per night. Reasonable in regard to overpriced Samoan hotels. The price/value however was not good. We stayes in a pretty run down garden view room. The bath room was... more

After staying at Taufua (see other review) we were in need of a hot shower and clean before getting on the plane. We had been told by fellow travellers at Taufua that Kitano was pretty decent and nice and cheap. It is owned by Japanese, and is badly in need of a major revamp. We paid $240 Tala for the... more

30 years ago it might have been nice but it is showing its age and they have done nothing to fix it. The management appear to condone loud parties at all hours in the rooms. The food ranged in quality from very poor to excellant, it was a lucky dip. It is way over priced (at any price) more

Having just spent a week at the Tusitala I can report that my stay was a most enjoyable one. Sure this is not a 5 star luxury resort ( probably 3 and a half to 4) but it is a very pleasant place to stay with lots of traditional South Pacific ambience. The staff are friendly, the pool and surrounds... more

I completely disagree with the negative reviews on this site, and am pleased I paid them no heed when booking Hotel Kitano for our recent stay. We are a young couple and had spent seven nights in Samoa (at Virgin Cove - LOVED it, and Tanu Beach, also very picturesque). We were very happy to spend out last two nights... more

I don't recommend this hotel either. We booked a superior room and actually had to ask if this was what we received. It was full of mosquitoes when we arrived. The sliding door stood 2 inches away from the wall so we couldn't let any air into the room. It smelled of mildew and was really stuffy. The bathroom appeared... more

I completely agree with the above reviewer about Hotel Kitano Tusitala - our room also was dirty, air conditioner malfunctioning, generally the hotel had a very run down feeling to it. Its only redeeming feature was that the staff were nice. Other than that we had an amazing two weeks in Samoa - fantastic! more

My sister and I got back from a 4 day holiday in Samoa last weekend. We had a fantastic time, highly recommend doing the Upolu Island day tour through Green Turtles, it was fantastic! Our room at Kitano Tusitala was very old, very run down..... the airconditioning kept breaking down, the toilet was gross and wouldn't flush properly and housekeeping... more

We stayed at the Hotel Kitano Tusitala recently while at a conference. The conference facilities and grounds are very good, the swimming pool especially was in a lovely setting. Unfortunately there is only one small bar/restaurant to eat during the day or evenings and the food was very questionnable. The choice of food on the menu was poor and over... more
