We had been given a voucher for Rick Steins for Christmas and decided to use it for our wedding anniversary and chose to stay one night in St Edmunds and have a meal at the Seafood Restaurant. When telephoning to book I was asked if we wished to dine in the restaurant and as we had not really made up... more

My partner and I stayed at the St Petroc and St Edmonds on the nights of the 23rd and the 24th respectively, and were extremely disappointed with many aspects of our stay. For the price we were paying, the service was far below the standard I would expect. I was a senior executive in the hotel industry until two years... more

I like Rick Stein's style of cooking, and so decided to try his Seafod Restaurant in Padstow, combining this with a weekend break. We chose St. Edmund's House as it was sold to us as the best accommodation available. We were a party of four and the other couple stayed in the rooms above the Seafood restaurant, and had a... more

I booked for one night through the RS website which was faultless and we also dined at the Seafood restaurant that evening. Having stayed in many hotels, I was expecting something pretty swish for the £260 they charge. I can't fault the room (Constantine) which is split level, has a decent bathroom, with Molton Brown soaps, and minibar. The view... more

We stayed at St Edmunds House with our friends who were celebrating their first wedding anniversary on Sunday 30th September. We had stayed at Lower Barn Boscue the previous night which was excellent and highly recommended for anyone who wants to do the Rick Stein experience for one night but also visit the south coast and Heligan and the Eden... more

We stayed here for 2 nights in early August. The room, Trevone, was lovely with a beautiful bathroom upstairs. We really liked the decor and style of the room. The views from the balcony were amazing. We found this a lovely retreat from the busy Padstow. Hard to believe that its in the centre. Padstow itself is beautiful, despite the... more

My wife and I decided to "do" the Padstow/Stein experience so booked 4 nights here. A great location and the dedicated parking is a must in Padstow. However, for the price point - £260 per night B&B - I think you can reasonably expect a top-quality experience, which this wasn't. We were in the Polzeath room which is unfortunately opposite... more

We stayed here with friends for 2 nights for my partners 40th birthday, arriving Friday 10th Nov 2006. We had Trevone, our friends Treyarnon. Both rooms were excellent - large and comfortable with stunning estuary views. Located just behind the Seafood Restaurant the hotel does feel more like a private house, with breakfast being served either in your room or... more

After having visited Padstow briefly on a cycle trip from Wadebridge last year, and having heard so much about the Seafood Restaurant from all and sundry, I booked St Edmund's House for our anniversary weekend. Rooms come with the option of a booking at the Seafood Restaurant, so it is an ideal stop over if you wish to eat there.... more

We stayed at St Edmunds House recently whilst on a 1 week trip around the South West and it was by far, the best place we stayed. We stayed in highly rated (by Conde Naste Traveller standards) hotels everywhere we went and were so plesantly surprised by St Edmunds, as I only booked it to make the restaurant booking easier!!!... more
