The enjoyment of this hotel seems to hinge on which room you get, and the night you stay. Unfortunately, we ended up at the side of the hotel, directly overlooking the gate to a very active dockyard, which was in full swing by 5am on a Monday morning. (someone came and opened the gate around 3am, and there was plenty... more

We had booked a spacious room with harbour views and it was all we had hoped for. Comfortable bed and furniture, normal bathroom but all well kept. Dinner in the bar downstairs was excellent and staff nice throughout. Good English breakfast cooked to order with additonal buffet. of bread, jam etc. Can be hIghly recommended. more

We stayed at the Pier at Harwich the night prior to our cruise on Jewel of the Seas. Our stay was very enjoyable - made so by a very attentive staff, great restaurant choices within the hotel, and a well appointed room. The town itself is small but quaint. Not a lot of "action" but a nice walk after a... more

This hotel is great. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are lovely and the food is really good with portions on the enormous side. We will definately return and we live in Manchester (not nearby!) more

With two superb restaurants; fresh produce at it's doorstep; very helpful and friendly staff; dramatic seaside surroundings, a very classy and unique hotel in a charming and pretty little town.. it's a wonderful getaway to The Pier at Harwich. I thoroughly recommend it! more

Stayed here for two night on 17th October. On a works course so everything was paid for The service from the front desk, the restaurant and the night porter was fantastic Harwich as a town is not worth a visit, it has one decent restaurant (apart from this hotel) that is the chinese buffet down the road. Pubs are very... more

We stayed on a Friday night to get away for our wedding anniversary. As others have mentioned, the town is completely dead - we were ambitious and took a "walking tour" to see the historical sights. We were done in about 15 minutes. That said, The Pier makes up for the lack of atmosphere in the town by offering a... more

We stayed at The Pier for a weekend break to celebrate a significant birthday. We booked the Mayflower Suite which was a really lovely large clean room. Excellent big bed and really nice decor. The hotel is unusual in that it houses all the guest rooms in a building detatched from the restaurant and hotel reception. This means the rooms... more

We picked this hotel because we were looking for somewhere special with a good restaurant that would take a booking for just a Saturday night. What an excellent choice. The hotel is easy to find and in an interesting location opposite the Halfpenny pier. We were suprised to find lots of interest in Harwich & we had a great long... more

I am from Harwich but now live in London. My partner and i (we are a Gay male couple) were celebrating our 20th anniversary on New Years Eve, so booked The Pier for us and 6 friends and family. We had eaten here in the Harbourside Restaurant on many occasions. The Harbourside is upstairs and silver service and bookable. The... more
