I just love this hotel. The staff are attentive and very pleasant. Fresh milk is provided for tea! The rooms are charming, many are quirky. If it is peace and relaxation, combined with excellent dining, you're after then I don't think you can be disappointed. It's my favourite hotel in Southern England. more

We stayed for just one night last weekend. There is an excellent offer for a Sunday night, if you just want to get away for a quick break. Upon arrival, I was horrified to find that there was a wedding party that day at the hotel. However, we were assured that this was quite separate to the main dining area,... more

We have stayed here many times and have loved it every time. Each of the rooms are very individual and fantastically furnished. This is a fabulous Elizabethan Manor house, full of winding staircases and oak panelling. The Michelin starred restaurant never fails to please. The wine list is great too. The staff here have worked here for many years and... more

We have stayed at Ockenden Manor on several occasions and would thoroughly recommend it for a relaxing gastronomic break. They offer a sunday night dinner, bed and breakfast price which is very good value. The food is fabulous as you would expect from the chef's michelin star. The service is excellent - attentive while being relaxed and friendly. The rooms... more

We were here for a wedding which took place in the hotel and we stayed through the evening and then overnight in the room called Alexander. It is a splendid venue in rural surroundings and all seemed to run very smoothly. more

We did not stay but went for afternoon tea, after being told to come late that day, we arrived to a limited menu and terrible service. The waiter did not check on us and we ended up having to find him several times. When we complained to the front desk, the person was non apologetic. We sent a letter to... more

Nice setting but not very relaxing. No options for eating other than a limited room service menu or a full blown heavy set menu in a formal setting. We had scaffolding put up outside our window while we were still sleeping. And when we wrote to the manager about being charged more for the room than we'd been advised on... more

By his own admission guest booked room for single occupancy for 2 nights. He arrived with a companion and then complained about being charged for double occupancy for 1 of those nights. Nice Try!

We booked a sunday night special price which was Dinner, Bed & Breakfast for £168. We stayed in the room named Raymond, which features on many of their brochures. The room has a four poster and lots of dark panelling, however as the room is on the corner of the building there are windows to both sides and the room... more

we were given a weekend as a present, so would probably not have chosen this hotel normally. it is in a nice village and fairly quiet. the hotel gardens are lovely and the dining rooms are very atmospheric. the food is good, quite rich and traditional. our room was Lily and very sunny, the bedsheets were fabulous but there were... more

Just returned from night in this wonderful tudor Manor Hotel, and found it incredibly romantic and peaceful. We stayed in the Charles room which was huge with a lovely old high four poster bed. The restaurant was amazing and worth every penny of the £150 for 3 courses plus wine which to some may be expensive but this was a... more
