We just returned from three nights at El Ombu. The weather was beautiful, sunny and 75, over Easter break. My husband and I were travelling with our two children, ages 10 and 12 and chose this estancia for its convenience to BA and the reviews. There are things to love and things to hate about El Ombu. The 19th c.... more

This is a great place to spend a couple of days and only 1½ hours by car from Buenos Aires. Do try and arrive by 13.30 as this is when the extremely tasty lunch is served with as much delicious asado meat as you can eat accompanied by varied salads. Stock up then as the meal in the evening, full... more

We absolutely loved this place!! The property arranged a taxi from the airport to the estancia (one caveat: $90 USD each way-a couple of our guide books had a lower price listed) and the driver was there waiting for us. When we arrived at the ranch, they were in the midst of preparing the extensive lunch; you will be served... more

My wife and I spent a week in BA for our honeymoon and took a day trip here. We had a wonderful time!! It was a perfect break from the city. We were allowed to roam around at our leisure and examine the lovely buildings and rooms. Drinks were given freely and the parilla was great. I had a blast... more

This place is fabulous! The house and grounds are incredibly beautiful and the people are authentic! A work colleague and I spent 2 short days there between assignments in BA, and it was just a wonderful escape. We enjoyed numerous horseback rides, lovely meals, wonderful people (Oscar the gaucho, Pedro the Asado King), and cool surroundings. The house is vintage... more

We booked 2 rooms for us and my in-laws for a day trip away from BsAs. This is a nice getaway from the city and is absolutely gorgeous in during sunset and in the mornign when the mist are still on the grounds....magical. We had great fun just lazying around, walking (one of the many dogs always follows) and riding... more

We booked 5 days in Buenos Aires with an additional day at an Argentine estancia. The estancia turned out to be Estancia El Ombu. Within 10 minutes of our arrival, we knew we had made a mistake. We should have opted for at least TWO days!!! Eva, our hostess, and Patricia, her sister, were wonderful. The staff was wonderful. The... more

The estancia was great in terms of getting away from BsAs for a day. It is expensive, though. I would recommend staying one night to get the feel of the gaucho life, then spend another in the town itself to get a better feel for the people. Getting a feel for real gauchos won't be had at El Ombu. Perhaps... more

My wife and I stayed at this Estancia for the last two nights of or our trip travelling around Argentina and found it to be an excellent choice. Contrary to some of the older reviews of this Estancia we found the staff to be welcoming and helpful. The accommodation was rustic, in keeping with the working Estancia environment, comfortable, clean... more
