Horrible stay on Petra! It may have been a 5 star hotel 30 years ago, but not any longer. Bathrooms are old and crappy, and you hardly get any warm (not hot) water. Toilets don't flush properly. The matress is the worst I've ever slept on and pillows were hard as rocks. Sleeping in this conditions is the fastest way... more

Staying at the Taybet Zaman was a wonderful experience. From check in to check out, everyone was polite and accomodating. The entire property gave one the sense of being a guest in a unique Bedouin village. The rooms were large and had a warm feeling consistent with the atmosphere. In the morning, I opened my door to a view of... more

Quiet and out of the way, the Taybet Zaman makes for an interesting stay in the Petra area - a maze of cobbled streets and turquoise doorways which lead into rustic, comfortable rooms. We arrived late and left early, so our impression was based on one night only, but long enough to find out that the food is good and... more

I rate the Taybet Zaman as "Above Average" relative to other hotels in the area. While it was rated as "5 stars" by some organization in Jordan, I don't think it would fit the bill as a 5 star hotel if it were elsewere in the world. Pros of this hotel were the interesting layout, large and nicely decorated rooms,... more

We really enjoyed our trip to Petra and from reading the reviews, it doesn't sound like many of the hotels are particularly good. Still, we were surprised that this hotel received so many good reviews. We agree that the hotel, built out of an ancient Bedouin village is charming, but it also is not very comfortable. I don't think that... more

Nestled in a semi-private neighborhood of Petra with views of the Taybet Mountains, this place is the real deal. I loved this resort. There was no pretense with staff and you really felt like you were staying at a former Bedouin cave via 2008 amenities. My room, #503, was artfully styled and had the comforts of home. There is a... more

Cons (and they are only few): Even though we were told the room was airconditioned, it was not. They have some sort of a 'cooler' that made the room more uncomfortable making it humid and not cooling it at all. A bit stuffy. Luckily the time we went was not too hot and because the room seemed well insulated, the... more

Taybet Zamen is a hotel built in the ruins of an old Jordanian stone village. It's about 8 miles from the ruins at Petra and is a totally unique hotel experience. We had our own little house with arched stonework, heated floors a beautiful modern bath, AC and cable TV and all built in furniture. The rooms are somewhat cavelike,... more

I just stayed at Taybet Zaman on a two day trip to Petra. It's a lovely and unusual place, and was an added bonus to an already terrific excursion. The grounds are very peaceful and well-maintained. The location is about 15 minutes by taxi from the gates of Petra and is NOT in town, but to me that was a... more

My partner and I were traveling in Israel and Jordan in June 2008. We decided to visit Petra and called Taybet Zaman to book a room at the last minute. The hotel arranged for a taxi to meet us at the Aqaba border and drive us to the hotel. The taxi service was then available to us for the rest... more
