My husband and I wanted a beach location in Southern Cal, but did not want to spend big bucks. The La Jolla Shores was a perfect location and reasonably priced for that location. It's true what some reviewers say about it being "tired." The units are older but perfectly clean and well maintained. Our room had a kitchenette that was... more

First - I've stayed here before - and to be clear - this property is located at 8110 Camino Del Oro in La Jolla. The location is fantastic. Great views - rumble of the ocean at night - salt water smell in the air - just wonderful. If you can tolerate the overpriced rooms, the disgusting bedspreads and blankets -... more

La Jolla Shores (The area itself) is incredible! The beach is spectacular! We sat on our balcony and watched dolphins, seals and sealions swim and play in the surf! This is such an incredible location, it is worth it just to be right on such a beautiful beach. The food in the attached restaurant is quite good also, try the... more

We've stayed at the hotel for 16 summers. Haven't been back for a few years and was surprised at how rundown the hotel is. We were to stay for two nights and left after one night. The beds had old mattresses with no bed pad, the bathrooms sink was cracked, the toilet was cracked, the tile around the hotel was... more

Hotel was great. Try to stay in an ocean view room. The ones in the back, with entrances facing the street, are too loud. Too much street noise. Restaurant has killer view. Courtyard area has a ping pong table (!) Every room gets a San Diego Union-Tribune, nice to get the local paper instead of USA Today. Attached photo shows... more

We stayed at La Jolla Shores October 07 and really enjoyed our visit. The room was wonderful. Although at first I was a little apprehensive about the location being next to the street and the park. We woke up on a saturday to a park filled with scuba divers and really were not aware of the activity. The room was... more

We picked this hotel because we couldn't get a room at the adjacent La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club and wanted to be close to family who were staying there. After reading some of the reviews, I wasn't expecting much, but it worked out great for us. I'm generally all about the views, but with a newborn and two other... more

I have stayed at this hotel many, many times -- beginning in about 1990. This is the first time that I have stayed there within the past five years, however. First, the positives. The hotel is wonderfully situated right on La Jolla Shores Beach. You can't beat that! It has a very nice pool, and the staff is friendly and... more

My family (me, wife, 2 kids, ages 5, 7) stayed here over Labor Day 2007 for a short 3-night vacation. The hotel is a bit pricey for the level of accommodations you get, but the location makes it worth every penny. First, the room. As discussed in previous posts, the hotel is a tad dated, having been built in the... more
