We stayed here 2 years ago because of our guide book. The room was very nice and very clean as well as the building. The only thing we have to complaint is that the second day, they forgot to give us new towels. It was late when we saw it and we left the next morning so we haden't said... more

I've traveled all over the world, and the Padre Oaks is simply a great deal overall. If you are a person who appreciates old houses over McMansions, a little quaint motor inn over a fancy 20 story mega-hotel, you might really like the Padre Oaks. To me, it was a really great, very inexpensive, clean place to stay for the... more

Before booking this place online, we tried calling to ask a quick question. A woman answered curtly, and then when my boyfriend asked her to wait for a moment, she hung up. We tried calling again to complete the call we'd started, but the phone just rang and rang endlessly. This should've been a warning to me of what was... more

from all the other review complaints i thought i had got myself into trouble. but it is a great place! right next to the shopping mall and the beach is in view from the road. the room is average but for the price and place, it is great! and the bathroom is beautiful!!! overall this was a good decision, i... more

We've stayed here before but it's been 3 years or so. Based on some of the negative feedback I saw here I was worried that something had changed. Nope. It's still good. We booked a room for 2 nights and ended up staying 4. Price was $55/night + tax for 2 people in a king bed. The place has been... more

It's no Ritz-Carlton. But you'll not find any habitable room on the peninsula for close to this price! Yes, the parking is cramped. If you drive a honking SUV, good luck. Our CR-V was fine, though. Yes, the walls are very thin. You can carry on a conversation through the wall if you want to. The pillows and mattresses aren't... more

This was, by far, the worse experienc I have ever had staying in a motel. The employees were rude beyond my comprehension. Upon entering the lobby I could barely stomach the stench of curried lamb billowing out of the manager's apartment -- attached to the lobby. Checking in was relatively painful, but the room was horrid. Tiny, smelly and out... more

We made online advanced reservations at Padre Oaks. They were rude & short while checking in. The room was small, the walls were thin, the bed was uncomfortable. When we retuned home, we noticed on our credit card statment that we had an additional charge from Padre Oaks that we were unaware of. We called to ask them to explain,... more

I travel a lot for work, so I'm used to varying levels of comfort in hotels. I couldn't sleep on the rock-hard bed and paper-thin pillows. My wife and I were there for three nights and I ended up in the car by the end of the third night because my back hurt so much from the uncomfortable bed/pillow. No... more

For Saturday night of the Big Sur Marathon, a room booked at last minute (after another hotel lost our reservation and left us scrambling for a room) was $143 (tax included). We prefer firm beds. This place's beds were a bit on the soft side. Some rooms can be connected, a possible plus for families. Walls seem really thin. Voices... more
