We stayed for 2 nights and we were expecting some kind of wilderness canyon. It is not like that at all! Instead of trying to paint a picture of a camping image, to be truthful the brochure should show a picnic area with playgrounds and swings, with kids screaming all day and night, with the cabins and tents right next... more

I read about El Capitan Canyon from Sunset Magazine. It got nice, inviting pictures, perfect for a get away weekend. I went there with 3 other adults. All of us were looking forward to spend a nice, peaceful weekend getaway and to get the "Glamping" experiences of hassle free camping. What we experienced instead was a place where it's full... more

I really like the concept of luxury camping, especially since sleeping on the ground, in a tent, or by a smoldering campfire has never been a big treat for me. For my husband's birthday, I booked a cabin at the El Capitan. I'd heard a lot about the property and wanted to see what the fuss was all about. The... more

We stayed in a Creekside Queen cabin (#124). My husband and I enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, but were hoping for the pleasant sound of actual water in the creek (the creek was quite dry at this time of year). Our 4-year old loved the ample open space to run around in. Our cabin was a bit dirty. There were cobwebs... more

Where to begin? 1) Our tent was literally surrounded by a pool, playground and rope climb, each less than twenty feet away. Imagine the loudest public park you've ever been to; now imagine each person there with a microphone and amplifier. From 6:30 AM to 10PM. Every moment of every day. The idea that they would put a place to... more

We just got back from 2 nights here and very much enjoyed it. We stayed in a creekside queen cabin #106, which was the perfect size for us (my husband, myself and 9 yr old step-son). My step-son liked sleeping in the loft and we enjoyed having our own bed. I highly reccomend staying in the creekside versus canyon cabins.... more

This was our first time at El Capitan Canyon and we loved it so much we will be making this visit an annual one. I rented a creekside cabin and it was located on a cul de sac and even though the cabins are fairly close to one another we still felt like we had enough privacy. The staff was... more

I was excited to stay here after the review in Sunset, but was surprised it did not provide a most relaxing experience. Pros: 1) Nice to stay in a safari style tent with a real bed. 2) The canyon was beautiful. 3) Showers were hot and not coin operated. 4) Location near beach(yes, it is a mile) and Santa Barbara.... more

I'd been planning on staying here for a while and when my rental car started giving me problems while driving back from Napa to Los Angeles - I got kinda happy thinking I'd get to stay here finally - little unexpected treat. The people were just less than enthusiastic, check in went fine but the guy who was guiding me... more

My husband and I stayed at El Capitan for a much needed re-connection, get away, easy, no fuss, last minute escape. We arrived the Thursday prior to the holiday weekend and it was quiet, beautiful, and perfect! The site was serene and and private. Yes, you can see other cabins, but they are mostly situated to give you a decent... more
