My wife and I stayed three nights/four days at the Lodge at Lionshead. I know Vail pretty well from the 80's and 90's when I lived in Denver, and the Lionshead area has certainly gone upscale if you haven't been there lately. They put in a new village with an ice rink and shopping and restaurants anchored near the gondola.... more

The lodge far exceded my expectations in a place to stay. It is nestled at the base of the mountains in a scenic setting, very close to the ski slopes, within walking distance to the Vail Village and much more. We've first found the Lodge during an early season ski vacation and have since returned there in the summer as well. It is a beautiful facility with upscale rooms, is in a beautiful setting with a walk path and small creek flowing through a grove of trees just behind the property.
