My wife and I were absolutely enamoured with the Fere. Beautiful country location and very friendly staff. Our room--a suite in the main building on the third floor--was fabulous. Antique appointments with a modern, but charming bathroom. We completely enjoyed our dinner experience with friendly and attentive wait staff. Excellent, reasonably priced wine selection. We can't wait to get back.... more

We don't like to write negative reviews and rarely do, however, this stay was a disappointment. We had read the glowing reviews here and booked a four day stay at La Ranconniere expecting that we were in for a treat. We were sorely disappointed. We had e-mailed to advise that we would be arriving around 20:00 hr due to the... more

I can highly recommend this hotel for its outstanding value (particularly in the restaurant) attention to detail and helpfulness. We stayed at the end of August, weather was dreadful but somehow it did not matter because the hotel was so good. We had two adjoining Junior Suites in the Manoir down the road. One for us and one for our... more

My wife and I stayed at the annex on our recent 3 week swing thru Europe. I think our room was called a jr suite or something like that but it was 3rd floor and really big. We had a nice view of the countryside and the chicken house. We enjoyed everthing about the Ferme. The peace and quiet and... more

We've been visiting the hotel for several years now; always staying in the annex, La Ferme (or Le Manoir) de Mathan. It's relaxed, both farms are beautiful, it's within spitting distance of miles of usually quiet beaches and the lovely town of Bayeux. It's in the middle of the Normandy landings area, so you can't get bored. Breakfast is wonderful... more

A lovely hotel in Normandy, close to WWII beaches, Bayeux, Caen etc. etc. Nicely appointed, staff was courteous and well informed. Restaurant was very pleasant - the food a treat - if it did tend to oversize portions. Overall a wonderfull couple of days. more

(I am trying to be as objective as possible, but the previous night's stay was at such a fabulous place (see reviews for Chateau de Bouceel) that we've been spoiled!) This hotel was great for many reasons: good location (close to some very historical and important spots (i.e., US, English and Canadian landing beaches) and in the midst of a... more

We booked this through Brittany Ferries as a 3* destination and were given a very small 2* "Mignonette" room (16), suitable for one night but certainly not four (and not pictured on any websites). There was no adequate storage space and only just room to swing a cat! The bed was very comfortable but almost filled the space with not... more

Every bit as good as the reviews in Sawday and elsewhere. A charming village (well worth walking around and reading the plaques about what happened after D-Day), and a truly beautiful hotel. Food and rooms were top notch - we did the 90 euros demi-pension in a superior room in the main building, recently decorated and very comfortable. Although the... more
