I would not really recommend this place as a mid-range hotel. We paid $35 (it was low season), but it is priced over $50 in the high season, taking it firmly into the mid-range level for Vietnam. The bottom line is, however, that the staff and facilities are not mid-range. The bungalows are old, the staff was not very friendly... more

This is frontier tourism at it's best. Sadly in another few years I think places like the Tropicana will be taken over by big resorts. We stayed here last week for 5 days in 2 beachfront bungalows (wouldn't bother with any others) Classic bamboo, thatched roof, tiled floors, large front veranda to watch the world go by. Bathroom with shower... more

We chose this place based on the write up in the Lonely Planet. Firstly I would recommend that you don't stay here - but if that doesn't convince you read on: We were picked up by 2 really friendly guys from the airport - that's where the good points end. At reception: this guy was not friendly and reluctantly gave... more

I arrived at the same time as some other Westerners and despite the friendly staff, there were many problems. The airconditioner did not work that night. I complained the next morning after waking dripping with sweat and covered with mosquitos. They assured me it would be fixed, but the following night, it was the same. Also they tried to rip... more

My wife and I first visited during New Year's Eve in 2002. It was more basic than it is now (cold showers only), no A/C but it was romantic - so romantic that I proposed to her, each of us lying in a hammock gotten from the staff and set up the porch of our bungalow. The bungalows then were... more

Thirty-four older style rooms and villas spread throughout lush grounds. The villas have creature comforts such as air conditioning, comfortable chairs and fridges, and spacious hot showers. There’s a nice pool right on the beachfront. The restaurant serves a good variety of Vietnamese and Asian dishes as well as simple Western favourites. Try to snag one of the nine beachfront... more

I booked this hotel in July for our trip in December.we arrived there today (23.12.07) and were told that they did not have our reservation! Even though I had a print out of the transaction, they tried to blame it on an office in Hanoi. We had booked a garden bungalow for 5 nights over Christmas.WE booked it in July!!! They... more

My boyfriend and me spent 5 days here in November 2007. The place was better than expected! We had no problem with our reservation although we had to insist a bit in order to get a response to your reservation emails. We stayed in a garden bungalow at 28 USD / night (breakfast included). The whole place is located just... more

Tropicana breakfast very basic with little choice beyond tea and coffee and toast with eggs or more local dish like rice. Hotel is OK, electricity after 5pm only , showers drip rather than than spray but clean with mosquito nets. Very quiet beach when we were there, a delight. Cheap fruit off beach sellers and the food in small beach... more

Wonderful tropical paradise: very reasonably priced, great location and fabulous beach! For a web price of $38 US for a 'garden bungalow' including breakfast and pick-up at the airport for myself, my wife and our two children I found this to be an excellent value. Quiet garden oasis just steps from a beautiful beach and use of a nice pool... more
