Despite the hotel being clean, well finished and the staff being generally friendly I would not return or recommend it to a friend. It is very over priced for what you get - there's little communal space, no pool and no where to hang out to escape the hassle that Stone Town can be. The room I had was poky... more

We stayed for 2 nights at the Al-Johari and it was a truly pleasant experience. While the location is tucked away from the main drags (which makes it feel safer) it is still in walking distance from most everything you will want to see.
