Zanzibar palace hotel, located in an old Arabic building which has been restored emphasizing its ancient features, is a luxurious nine room boutique hotel right in the heart of stone town. A combination of Arabic, Indian and English designs into a harmonic and homely place, added that we offer a wide range of modern facilities (a/c, TV, DVD). Room rates for every purse definitely makes this a place to stay. more » « less

Excellent hotel in a very good location in Stone Town. Genuinely friendly and helpful staff especially manager Jan who knows the island and is always ready to advise and help solve problems. For various reasons we stayed in 3 different rooms all of which were very good, everything works, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Very good value for money, highly... more

We arrived in Stone Town after 1 weeks safari & 1 week beach in zanzibar, and wanted some culture before heading back to the UK. However, our plans were rather scuppered after starting with symptoms of food poisoning on the final day at the beach. We arrived at the palace hotel feeling pretty ill & spent the next 24 hours... more

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon in June 2008 and reallly loved it. We stayedin the Arabica room which was decorated very nicely (and had A/C!). The people at the front desk were wonderful and very friendly and helpful. They answered all the questions we had for them. The only drawback, and it is a small one, is... more

Like other travellers, we found this a great place to stay. We really liked the uber-comfortable beds and the great food. Dinner is either three or five course; we found the three course was stylish, tasty and more than adequate. We also liked the coffee they served; the owner will give you directions to the shop in Stone Town that... more

After reading the reviews of zanzibar palace hotel, I decided this was the place to stay. Had booked and prepaid for 3 nights in the Dunia suite at $295 a night. On arrival we were greeted warmly and given a welcome drink. Then things got worse. The suite is about 10 flights up stairs. The room was ok with a... more

We stopped here for 2 nights in the Sultana room and can't recommend it highly enough. The staff were very friendly and professional. The Sultana room was really great, it has a huge bath and 4 poster bed. When we arrived we were met by Jan, who settled us in to Stone town, by giving us a quick walk through... more

We just got back from Tanzania and we totally enjoyed our stay at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel. This hotel is outstanding. Perfection might be the best word. In fact, we’ve booked for 2 nights and ended up there for 4 nights. The manager of the place “Mr Jean” knows how to transform your stay into heaven. Breakfast were by far... more

We were a group of 19 family and friends from Australia and UK who had booked out all 9 rooms of the Zanzibar Palace for a birthday celebration. We were there for 3 nights and the whole experience was magical. Management was friendly and welcoming and we felt really at home. The rooms and decor were fabulous, and a real... more

We spent 1 night here as a prelude to our beach holiday in Zanzibar. I have been here before but wanted my Canadian fiance' to see it for herself. We were fortunate enough to get the best room in the hotel (it was the only one available) and we were sorry we were not there for longer. Our room was... more

Very much enjoyed staying at this attractive unique small hotel. It provides a peaceful haven from the heat and variable sights of Stonetown (some dingy, dirty some spectacular). I had one of the small rooms which are perfect for a solo traveller - would be cramped for 2. The room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The outlook over the... more
