This is not a 4 star hotel. Its tired, and as others have said it for the money you pay, the service and the room aren't up to scratch. The hotel name Coconut Beach is a bit misleading, but did not worry me - the rooms are in the rain forest, and to get to the beach you have to... more

As per the title, my husband was 'zapped' by one of the rattan lights in the room and we are yet to hear back from them (left a big complaint on a feedback form). Apart from that....dissapointing big time. For the money you pay, the service and the room aren't up to scratch. For example, there was a big hole... more

We too booked to stay in Ferntree with self catering but were informed a day before arrival that we had been 'upgraded' to Coconut Beach.....joke! In no way is this place 4*. We were booked to stay 4 days and just wanted to chill. Like Ferntree it needs a complete overhaul, it needs a 21stC uplift. This place relies on... more

We arrived at Coconut Beach (AKA Cape Tribulation Resort and Spa) to find that our booking through Expedia was not in their system. Yet, my credit card had already been charged! Luckily it was the low season so we were still able to get a room after waiting for it to be prepared. We stayed in a Rainforest room, which... more

I stayed for 3 nights in April 2008. I had booked direct with the resort and was booked into Ferntree a sister resort. I arrived at Ferntree to find the place desserted. A note on a door said contact Coconut Beach. Adjacent phone did not work. I drove to Coconut Beach and had to wait fot 10 minutes at the... more

We booked 3 nights in Coconut beach Lodge (Cape Tribulation Resort and Spa), but decided to only stay 2! We booked the room on the basis of pictures and the promises of a a peaceful rainforest retreat at Cape Trib's premier hotel. Unfortunatly the accomodation was a big disappointment, the interior wood floor, walls and ceilings had not been varnished... more

If you come to this hotel, especially in the rainy season, come expecting a rain forest experience. There will be animal companions in your bathroom, especially at night. If it rains you will hear it. It will be humid and your clothes will not dry easily. You will need an umbrella and a torch at night. There will be spiders webs,... more

Spent one night in one of the rainforest lodges in the middle of the rainforest. Absolutely fantastic place. The pool was pleasant and the restaurant was good too. The room itself certainly looked impressive - but it was very warm and humid when we there and the ceiling fan was no match for the weather. I slept very badly indeed... more

We arrived at Cape Tribulation with a booking for Ferntree Rainforest Lodge, only to be given a complimentary upgrade to Coconut Beach Resort, as Ferntree were having renovations done in the low season. So that was a nice surprise! We stayed in a Daintree Retreat room, which was lovely. There are 2 or 3 rooms to a building, and it... more

Ok, you have to bear in mind where you are. You're in the middle of a rainforest. With this being said, there are going to be bugs, animals (scary birds!! a cool lizard outside our bathroom window!), etc. hanging around the "hotel grounds." With this in mind, the room was kept very nicely. We stayed in the Daintree Retreats...the bathroom... more
