We went to stay at the Falcon this weekend and all I can say was that it was a disaster. We used to go to Uppingham 10 years ago and had fond memories of the town and of the Falcon hotel. However, the hotel has just been left to mould and ruin. I cannot say a positive comment about the... more

We decided to book the Falcon hotel for the weekend of the Burghley Horse Trials as my event horse was competing and my daughter and her husband who live in Yorkshire were joining us on this exciting occassion . We all know the Falcon as both my daughter and her husband went to Uppingham school in the 90's and my... more

My family and I stayed in this hotel for one night as we were attending a wedding reception at this hotel. If this hotel cost £50 per room per night then it would be ok but at £90 a night you except something a bit special and unfortunately this hotel does not deliver. The hotel itself it lovely to look... more

I was taken here by my boyfriend for a birthday treat. On arriving the staff sat on a reserved table with the best chairs next to the reception desk with a tent for the children to play in. The welcome by staff was average. Upon getting to the room I could have cried. The room was small, dark and dirty.... more

Booked in one night for a wedding. - pleased we were not staying any longer! The wedding arrangements did not run to time, and the best man had to intervene several times. Our room was grubby and very dark, very dusty, and had torn net curtains in the bathroom with no proper curtain to close (people from outside could see... more

We're a relatively local couple who have used this wonderful hotel as a bolt-hole from the stresses and strains of everyday life. We found it to be a much grander version of the adorable Fawlty Towers, and we certainly don't mean that negatively. The staff were friendly and attentive, and being avid people watchers, we enjoyed the fact that this... more

We stayed for one night only. Booked 2 twins but were given a double (they did correct this though). breakfast was good. No ice available at the bar for drinks. Room was fine. its a shame that improvements have not been made to the public areas. Net curtains on the stairs (and in our room were very dirty), the staiways... more

A gloomy, shabby place, not particularly clean and with offhand, everything-is-too-much-trouble service. Our room was poorly maintained. When we had breakfast, the main sitting/dining area hadn't been cleaned from the night before. We have previously stayed in Uppingham at the Lake Isle, just over the road, which we found to be charming, cosy, clean and friendly - a much better... more

This review is very untypical of The Falcon. The public areas and almost all of the bedrooms (certainly those that required it) have been fully refurbished within the last four years. The vast majority of feedback I receive stresses on the friendliness of our staff and the relaxed, good natured atmosphere. I am sure that things can, and sometimes do,...
