Can't fault it really. Not got a lot to say about it but it does what it says on the tin. Great location and everything you could want from a budget, business hotel. The Toby Carvery next door is fantastic. An absolute steal at £5, gorgeous food and the staff were very welcoming. more

Clean room with a good location just off the A1. The hotel is co-sited with a Toby Inn which did an amazing carvery deal for £5 if you eat before 7PM. Staff were OK. My only grumble was a less than perfect TV signal (which seemed to be the same throughout the hotel) for watching the rugby World Cup final! more

I stayed here this Saturday night with my two year old son. The room was fine, decor modern, bed good, staff fairly friendly. However, at 2am the room above us was invaded by 4 mindless drunken yobs who proceeded to shout and yabber at the top of their voices until it all ended in a fight over who had urinated... more

Stopped in This Holiday In For 3 Days Whilst On Business, Couldn't Fault The Inn. The Adjoining Pub, (The Toby Inn) However- I've Never Met Such A Group Of Miserable So And So's In All Of My Life. Absolutely NO Customer Service, Conversation Which Challenged My Hearing As I'd Have Called What They Did As Nothing More Than Grunting. Wouldn't... more

Typical modern lodge hotel. Good price, good room and basic breakfast. I did see a sign for a bar but just used the Toby across the car park for dinner and drinks. I would recommend this hotel for value and the use of the Toby. more

Stayed here for the great north run in September. Fantastic little hotel with very helpful staff. Toby carvery across the car park is a great option for a drink or food. Really can't fault the place. If you are thinking of staying here for the Great North Run, my advice would be a taxi (approx 15-20 mins) to Heworth Metro... more

Standard Holiday Inn Express. Good value at £52/night. Toby carvery next door also good. Rooms clean and helpful staff. Convenient for Beamish (10 mins away) and Metro Centre. We had rooms facing the road - some traffic noise but not too bad. Perhaps better to request rooms overlooking car park??? more

i have stayed at this hotel for a few weeks now on buisness. it is a very clean and friendly hotel. The problem is the room rate has been increased by 40%. I think that the new manager has a very short sighted approach and i advise any companies with a corporate rate in place to think twice about booking... more

Went as a family and could not fault it. Continental breakfast which was really good and something for everyone even picky kids. Room clean and comfortable, everything you need is already there for you. Toby Carvery just next door for a good meal and drink. We used it as a base for going to Newcastle and Beamish(which is very close)... more
