I really liked this place: the blue outdoor lights, the chalkboard doors on both sides to draw/write on (they supply chalk), the nice shower with enough water pressure (pressure & temparature controlled separately!), and the very nice staff. At first I thought the location was far from downtown but the bus ride takes 5 minutes, or you can walk across... more

I chose this hotel because it was cheap. From the beginning I had problems with them when I booked through another website, paid the other website and then was told that the Jupiter Hotel didn't have my availability. I called up anonymously and asked for my exact dates and was told they did in fact have room. I spoke to... more

The Jupiter Hotel is a great place, just an easy walk from downtown but a whole different experience than the soul-less big city hotels. The rooms are small and very simple, but are also much less expensive than the chains. Plus, the place has tons of character. Great bar and restaurant with a wonderful music club downstairs. I paid $6... more

I stayed at the Jupiter hotel on a business trip. It was close to where my friend lives in the Belmont district, and I heard some interesting things about the place. They have an underground parking garage, and it is $7 a night. There seems to be parking on the street, but it doesn't look like the best neighborhood, and... more

This place is for the young and young at heart who like some activity on the premises and who can tolerate some nocturnal noise and activity. I found my stay to be quite enjoyable (I'm 59 years old). The staff was EXCELLENT, and the Doug Fir Restaurant next door was super, both with respect to service, quality of food, and... more

First off, let me just say that we are a young couple, and I have stayed here before...We were well aware that this is an "alternative" hotel, and that was the appeal. The real issue is that by nature the whole reason to get a hotel room is to sleep, (after all, if you'll be up all night, who needs... more

This hotel was okay. If you get past the alleged hipness it's really just an Econo Lodge with different furniture. But, there's one thing that made it especially memorable for me: extreme pain. I unlocked the door, walked into a dark room, and slammed the top of my foot full-force into the sharp corner of the bed. The pain was... more

The Jupiter Hotel rocks. It's a totally unique place that does not seek to be mainstream. Many of the reviews for the Jupiter appear to be written by people with expectations of staying at the Ritz Carlton. The Jupiter, thank all that is good, is no ritz. It's better. It's real, clean, convenient, staffed by an amazing group of people,... more

My firend and I booked a room with two full-sized beds for the Tango Festival. Our room was spacious with a huge window overlooking the side street. It was at the end of the corridor which made it a quiet location. The beds, linens, and pillows were luxurious but the bathroom could have used a little help. Although clean and... more

I heard that this was a party hotel, but the website is so cool that I though I would give it a try anyway.. how bad could it be??? When my husband and I decided on a Portland getaway I thought I would specify with the front desk staff to book us a room on the far end from the... more
