We loved this old country hotel and enjoyed its shabby but clean chic. The Breakfast and dinner were very very good and all food seemed to be locally sourced and fresh. Choice was not huge but I can forgive that if what is offered, is good quality. The big downside was the sound of the Saturday night drunks outside on... more

We booked this hotel for an overnight stay for a wedding we had in Machynlleth. We paid £85 for a double room and breakfast. Good points 1. Charming, old fashioned room (room 24). Plenty of tea/coffee facilities and free toiletries. Big fresh towels and they offered fresh milk if you didn't fancy uht milk with your tea 2. Excellent breakfast.... more

The Wynnstay restaurant in Machynlleth is a local landmark as the co-owners, Gareth Johns and his brother cater for restaurant meals, informal food in the bar, Sunday roasts and phenomenal breakfasts. The set menu at £25/head offers the best value 3-course meal in the area, whilst the full a la carte has something for everyone – gourmet to picky eater... more

This hotel is an older hotel but it was clean and had a nice sized room and bathroom. There was a couch and a coffee table and a small tv. Plus, there was adequate storage areas and places to put 2 cases. There were steps in the bathroom up to the tub and very steep stairs to get up to... more

The room was fine but had yet to be refurbished - a point I'd been aware of given the lower price. I'm glad we'd booked dinner as the... more

Wynnstay is a bit ecentric but thats all part of its charm really. We visit regularly and the ambience and food is great especially in the main bar with the log fire going. Try the scollops for starters and the lamb is always good as is fresh fish choice. Very rustic with good beers and lovely wine choice. Also has... more

My husband and I ate at the Wynnstay in July. It was a rather strange experience in all. I have to say the food was good and competently cooked but without the choice I had been expecting as I thought they had a reputation for fish. I did have a crab starter and there was fish as a main course... more
