We stayed three nights at the SPI Comfort Suites. It is fine, but not quite what it is advertised on the website. We booked a two bedroom, two bathroom suite, but it had two two toilets/sinks with a bathtub/shower in between them. The beds and sofabed were fine. This is a standard Comfort Suites (not bad). This hotel is located near, but not directly on the beach. It is located in the middle of South Padre Island very near the tourist center. SPI is a hard place (for us) to book a hotel (based on what's written here). Either it is super pet-friendly (so you share their hair and fleas), has a cigarette smoke problem, or has an absurd cancellation policy, or all of the above. We stayed here for a quick night away. The overall experience was better than we expected. Though not our normal preference for a place to stay at the Island, it was OK. Our room was quite large (one bed in the main room and then 2 additional beds in the other). A little expensive for the end of summer. The breakfast buffet was very nice. more
