I was booked into this hotel by the organization that invited me to Maui. After seeing the reviews on Trip Advisor I was more than a little concerned about this place. Now that I have been here for several days I feel it is only fair to offer some feedback. After a very long day of travel, arranging for a... more

My husband and I stayed here for a week in April during Spring Break. You would have never known it was a busy time on the island by the quiet, peacefulness of the maui lu. It was definately a budget hotel- but budget prices were also what we were paying. It beat our expectations by far. The room was very... more

If you want to experience Hawaii in it's natural beauty this is the place to be. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and tropical, the location is quiet and there are no extra fees-like parking costs. I am an airline employee and I refer ALL my airline friends to the Maui Lu. We stay at higher end hotels on our overnights... more

My husband, 2 small children and I stayed at Maui Lu for Thanksgiving. We weren't expecting much based on the price. The hotel staff were always very friendly and helpful and the location is decent. We drove up and down the road for meals and appreciated the refrigerator in the room and use of the microwave in the lobby. Our... more

The hotel has 2 locations. One is on the beach side the other is across the street. Make sure if you stay here you ask for the ocean front location. The rooms are run down and dirty. They need to be updated. You only get coffee in your room once, then you need to go across the street to get... more

The pictures of this "resort" are very misleading. First of all, most of the units are not beach front and have no view of the beach. I travel about once a month or so and this is the first negative review I have felt the need to write. We were treated extremely rudely by the staff upon check in at... more

Management response from
DaveSKihei_HI, General Manager

As the General Manager of the Maui Lu I am upset when I hear negatives about the resort. It is an old property and we are renovating the rooms. We have a full contract with Ecolab who sprays for bugs inside and out monthly. My office is at the lobby and I have never refused to speak with a guest....

Okay, the Maui Lu isn't ultra modern, but it has spacious rooms, your choice of air conditioning or cross-ventilation, and a good location on the South shore, at the end of Kihei nearest the cross-island highway. The room and bath were clean, if a little rundown. The beds were excellent! Great mattresses! Amenities included a refrigerator, a coffeemaker and a... more

We stayed at the Aston Maui Lu for the first two days of our Maui vacation. We had one of the beach front rooms in the 400 building. I was not expecting much from the hotel, but it was truly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. Think beat-up version of a Motel 6. Not that motel... more

Aston Maui Lu Resort 17 February 2008 My wife and I stayed in this "Hotel" for one night February 2nd as I was attending a Rotary function at the Marriott Waialea. This was the most disgusting hotel room I have ever stayed in. The carpets were dirty, the bathroom fixtures, although clean were showing rust, and the furniture appeared to... more

When I told my wife that we were closing our holiday by relaxing at a Maui hotel that costs over $250 a day (AUD) she was so excited. The photos show a high aerial shot with blue water in front of a long building. I thought the one and a half star rating was because the standards are different compared... more
