Location, location, location. The lodge is located in a green valley tucked in a mountain surrounded by otherwise dry flat desert land. Despite its remote location to get to , once there it is a great launcing point for activities in the park. Room are simple without amenities but comfortable. It is very difficult to get a reservation. We booked in January for sometime in April and they only had one night available. We planned our trip around this one night. we stayed in the nearby campground for three nights and spent our last night at the lodge. The restaurant is great with a beautiful view. We loved staying here while visiting Big Bend. We stayed in the lodge for several nights and were lucky enough to stay in a stone cottage one night. The lodge rooms were clean and well kept. Mattresses could use updating though. The stone cottage was awesome in every respect. Beds were very, very comfortable. Views from the porch were stunning.... more
