Location, location, location. The lodge is located in a green valley tucked in a mountain surrounded by otherwise dry flat desert land. Despite its remote location to get to , once there it is a great launcing point for activities in the park. Room are simple without amenities but comfortable. Can't beat the sunset views from this property. more
Considering this is the only hotel in the park, it's a pretty good deal. It could easily be a ripoff due to it's spectacular location, but I think the prices are reasonable. Rooms are simple and small. No phone, no TV, ours had no aircon, but that is typically not a problem even in the heat of summer. The restaurant... more
The lodge is the only choice you have in Big Bend National Park, and its location is fabulous, with views down to the desert below. It's in a mountainous part of the park, so it's cooler than down below. We stayed for one night in one of the motel rooms. Do not expect luxurious rooms in the motel section---ours was... more
We had a wonderful stay at the Casa Grande Hotel, part of the Chisos Mountain Lodge. While the room was not large it was very comfortable and well kept. We appreciated all the efforts made for recycling, etc. Beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. The restaurant was also excellent. The food was good and not overpriced, especially considering it was... more
This was our 3rd time to stay at the Chisos Mountain Lodge. We've stayed in the Casa Grande Motel Rooms, the Emory Peak Lodge and in one of the Roosevelt Stone Cottages. Of these 3, we actually enjoyed the Emory Peak Lodge (#105) best. We were there in early May, for birding and hiking. There is a small problem with... more
To voice some criticism of the rooms: I stayed at the Emory Peak motel-like rooms. We had a double and a twin. Luckily my husband and I could use the twin as a shelf. There is no chest of drawers in the room, just a bar for hangers and one suitcase valet. We were there for 4 nights so we... more
Can't beat the Chisos Mountain Lodge for Location, Location, Location! If you aren't camping or RVing this is the place to stay with it's central location in Big Bend National Park. And it's at one of the most beautiful locations in the park with the "Window View' which is great all day long but especially beautiful at sunset. Check in... more
It is very difficult to get a reservation. We booked in January for sometime in April and they only had one night available. We planned our trip around this one night. we stayed in the nearby campground for three nights and spent our last night at the lodge. The restaurant is great with a beautiful view. Great prices as well.... more
We loved staying here while visiting Big Bend. We stayed in the lodge for several nights and were lucky enough to stay in a stone cottage one night. The lodge rooms were clean and well kept. Mattresses could use updating though. The stone cottage was awesome in every respect. Beds were very, very comfortable. Views from the porch were stunning.... more
