Some mixed reviews had left me a wee bit nervous especially as this was the location we were staying longest at on our honeymoon. HOWEVER from the minute we arrived we were treated to excellent service and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Very helpful staff and a fantastic location, 1 min from the beach, shops, bars and restaurants AND... more

I booked our reservation at the hotel website in advance. The site said we would receive a free upgrade to a garden view studio room @ $143.00. I arrived late at night and went to my room and noticed my garden view was in fact the many storied parking garage, no garden in sight. I went back to the front... more

I spent only two days at the Cataraman with my kids and I can tell you we all had a blast. We stayed in a suite (got upgraded for free) overlooking the beach.....beautiful...... I didnt think the place was too spacious, but it was fine. Very clean, and well maintained. The walk to our room was kind of long but... more

Great spot. We had a tower suite overlooking bay, great views. Beautiful room, very clean, great amenities. We found this hotel a great base for visiting San Diego, it took us no time to get to the local sights, Seaworld, Zoo etc. Loved the wildlife, ducks, swans, parrots. Cannot understand the negative reviews that have been written previously, we have... more

My wife, 3 year old and I stayed for five nights over spring break. Not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from, but the Catamaran is very nice place.... The grounds are gorgeously maintained and the location is perfect for seeing the San Diego area. Our room was in the tower and was spotless. Brand new HD tv... more

This hotel is under rated! The ambiance, floral and fauna abound! Our room was over the pool, private, and not noisey at all - during Easter! The tv was a brand new HD flat screen! Bathrooms were fine, along w/bedding and double sinks with a large counter top for our stuff (2 adults, 2 teenage girls). The grounds are absolutely... more

this was our last stop on our honeymoon down the coast of california. Our room was in the tower, and it is an older property, however, it was still clean, comfortable and we had a lovery view of the bay. You do notice that generally, this buliding is showing its age a bit but the room itself was fine. My... more

I was a little worried about our stay at the Catamaran after reading the reviews on this site. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised. The grounds were nicely kept. We stayed in the 700 building right in front of a little pond. We were on the bottom floor and the ducks came right up to our patio window in... more

My husband was riding the elevator down when suddenly it seemed to fall two floors, go back up one and fall again one floor. He was knocked to his knees. He called on the elevator phone and two hotel personnel came out and tried to pry the doors open. Choice comments he heard were, "What's that red thing?" and "Don't... more

How can you leave a bad rating for this place? INCREDIBLE place. Just got back from the Catamaran, great place. I stayed in a Studio room on the Penthouse floor (14th floor in the Tower) Room was great, spacious, and had a nice little kitchen. Great view of the Pacific Beach area and the Ocean. The hotel is in a... more
