My husband & I wanted to go someplace special for our wedding anniversary and chose the U.S. Grant Hotel. We had toured it once before & were favorably impressed. Prior to checking in we were contacted via e-mail by the hotel to see what time our arrival would be & if our stay there was for something special. I did... more

We just returned from 2 nights at the US Grant Hotel - a lovely historic hotel, restored and refurbished elegantly. The service was fantastic and the room very comfortable. The location is good for a walk of some blocks to the waterfront and Gas Lamp area. more

Beware - If you book on the hotel's website, 100% of price is non-refundable. This would be OK, I guess, but when we called to ask for consideration 2 hours after booking (we have an emergency) hotel staff were unbelievably rude, condescending, and practically hung up on us. We are polite people. We are still reeling from the treatment. There... more

This hotel is a magnificent historical hotel with a fabulous rennovation. The lobby is classy and upscale. The rooms, though small, are beautifully decorated with flatscreen LCD TVs, original artwork, and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was very appropriately sized, with ample room for 3 people. Parking was $30/day, but the Valet service was prompt and polite. The concierge... more

I booked through Expedia, paid in advance to get a better deal ($215 a night which is a steal for this place.) I really loved this hotel. It's gorgeous if you like old-school historic hotels. Positives: Great location if you want to stay in downtown San Diego. Directly across the street from Horton Plaza Mall (cool outdoor multilevel mall -... more

My husband, three-year-old daughter and I stayed at the U.S. Grant for three nights prior to Easter, 2008. The hotel is lovely: very elegant, beautifully designed and appointed and the staff was charming throughout from car valet to concierge. Although this is not really a "kid friendly" property in the sense that it's very high end and definitely designed for... more

Got a great rate at the US Grant for a quick weekend getaway. Paid an extra $10 when booking for a deluxe king room instead of a superior king, which was money well spent. We walked into a very large corner room with a good size bathroom and multiple windows on two sides of the building. The superior rooms looked... more

Checked in here because I was unhappy with first hotel. Very friendly staff and upgraded to a beautiful room. The shower was huge with jets everywhere. Very stylish decor throughout the hotel. Very pleasant restaurant. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in San Diego. more

We stayed at the US Grant in San Diego during a 4-day visit (Dec 24 - 27). This hotel is a beautiful historic hotel - it's celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2008, and you can see the sense of history everywhere you go in the hotel. The furniture, the furnishings, artwork, etc. were all chosen because of their historical significance.... more
