I stayed at the Jefferson Hotel on Sunday 5 October 2008. I had a business meeting on the Monday morning and went outside to ask for a taxi to take me to my meeting, which I knew was approximately 10/15 minutes away. A few minutes later, a town car pulled up and I assumed that since there wasn’t a taxi... more

I have stayed here many times in the past and the staff if always polite and will go out of their way to see that you get what you are paying for. I love the Sunday brunch and valet parking is cheap compared to Washington and Philadelphia. When I think of the Jefferson I think WOW. If you can afford... more

I am surprised this is a 5 star hotel! The lobby is gorgeous and the rooms were comfortable but nothing special. I have stayed at 3 and 4 star hotels that had much better service. While waiting for an elevator, a hotel employee jumped in front of me onto the elevator as the door opened. There were several travelers in... more

Sometimes it's hard to splurge on a great hotel - because the hype and publicity doesn't come close with the reality. The Jefferson Hotel deserves its five star and five diamond rating. Most good hotels cut corners with insufficient employee staffing, use of college or foreign interns, and generally they often lower the standards of expectations. Checking in at the... more

This is one of the great hotels in the country. Outstanding service, friendly staff, the cleanest hotel you will ever stay at. The five star rating is well deserved. You can spend hours just wandering around the hotel looking at the pictures and the architecture. Restaurants are great and the Sunday brunch is unbelievable. I have stayed here on three... more

We had enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at the Jefferson so much last year that we decided to do it again this year, although on a more modest scale. This year we stayed for two nights in a deluxe king room. To compare it to one of the Governors Suites we had stayed in last year wouldn't be fair, as the... more

My room was large, but decorated with very standard inexpensive hotel furniture. I was disappointed that the rooms didn't have more style, given the imposing lobby and public spaces. My room was perfectly clean, and had two windows, but I found it depressing to be in the space with its 1980's issue dark green carpeting and bedspreads and the faux... more

As a Richmond native, I have stayed in The Jefferson Hotel many times for special occasions, including my wedding night. I agree with other reviewers that as the hotel ages, some of the details in the guest rooms appear to be overlooked. There are scuff marks on the walls and some carpets have stains. However, the architecture and ambience of... more

I stayed here with my two teenage boys while we were in town for a lacrosse tournament. We booked a deluxe double. It was a fairly nice size room with a sectioned off changing area. The bathroom was just okay but nothing to write home about. There were many good things about the hotel but there were also some bad... more

Stayed in the hotel for business for 2 nights mid-may. I was impressed with the old time charm of the hotel and the exquisite details that made all the difference. The hotel is old, for sure, but it is extremely well maintained and has charm that you rarely find in hotels these days. The staff is friendly and accomodating (I... more
