I just came home after a lovely 4 night stay at the Wailea Marriott. I arrived first thing in the morning after taking a red eye flight on Hawaiian Airlines from Las Vegas that worked out really well. The hotel was newly renovated, rooms were spacious, decorated well but you could tell it was an older property by looking at the ceiling. They forgot to update the ceilings and you could tell because they were dirty and yellowing! We had been to Maui several times, but never stayed in the Wailea area and decided it was time. We chose the Marriott and were thrilled with it. Title says it all really. I was very disappointed with our check in experience. As a Marriott Gold Rewards member I had expected more ... there was no greeting and instead of being offered automatic upgrade I got the hard sell to upgrade for $75.
