Wow! Salem is a magical place. I learned a lot of history I can use in my 7th grade history class. Salem Inn is the greatest hotel my Dad and I have ever been to. Yes, it is haunted and it is old, but the rooms are so cool and comfortable. The desk people here are so nice and friendly.... more

Not worth the Money! My husband and I stayed two nights at the Curwen House, Essex Street, part of the Salem Inn. We paid over $170.00 per night, and we did not get our money's worth! Room 12 was adjacent to the common area, with guest's late night conversations interrupting our sleep. Pillows were flat, not one magazine in the... more

We at the Salem Inn are disappointed that our guests were not pleased with Room 12 at our Curwen House. In the fourteen years that this historic house (the quietest of all 3 Inn properties) has been a part of the Inn, no one has ever complained about noise from the adjacent guest parlor. Guests very seldom use the sitting...

The staff took our deposit that happened to be the whole cost of the room after we could not not go because our daughter was sick. We tried to rebook and they would not allow that and them they billed my credit card. Watch out!!! more

The person who wrote this review never stayed at the inn and canceled mid-day on the day he was scheduled to arrive. His reservation was made five days in advance, well within our one-week cancellation policy. At the time of booking, he was told there would be no cancellation permitted and that his credit card would be charged a one-night...

Room 2 at the Peabody House had the most comfy bed I've ever slept in at an inn/ hotel/ or B & B! Fantastic room and outstanding hospitality. The wonderful complementary breakfast, served in the charming, original cellar kitchen of this vintage building, was more than ample, with a nice variety of fruits, juices, pastries and even quiche. Salem is... more

My husband and I were a bit frazzled and bewildered by the traffic pattern that brought us to the front of the Inn. We accidentally passed it, and because we were not familiar with the town (and during BUSY afternoon hours) It took us a bit to get back to the building on the correct side of the road (Thank... more

We absolutely love everything Salem has to offer, and couldn't have picked a better place to stay than the Salem Inn. The atmosphere is simply wonderful. My husband and I enjoyed our romantic getaway. The room was lovely! Breakfast was great, and the staff terrific. We enjoyed walking along Pickering Wharf and the waterfront, browsing in neat boutiques and antique... more

We were so excited to go to the Boston area and visit Salem. I found a website for the Salem Inn and it looked so nice. The rooms appeared to be updated with nice furnishing; the houses were listed as historic landmarks. We were excited to book a one night stay based on the pictures we viewed online. We arrived... more

It is disappointing to read the negative remarks in this review, especially since the guests never even spent the night at the Inn. In particular, the comment regarding the double bed being "lumpy" doesn't do justice to the mattress, which is a brand new Serta pillowtop sleeper, and the bedcovering is not old, but rather a muted, mellow-colored brocade fabric....

The website is misleading. Though the historic buildings that are the Inn look nice, the neighborhood is awful! It was like walking into a New York slum. We got there early so we walked around the neighborhood trying to keep an open mind. It was dirty and clearly city-like. There was nothing quaint or historical looking about the surroundings. There... more

On behalf of the Inn, it is disappointing to read a review with a headline "So bad we didn't even check in!". This refered to the city and neighborhood, not to the Inn itself, since the reviewer never even came into the inn. We opened our Inn in 1983 and are always receiving positive comments from guests as well as...

My sister and I stayed at this inn, with our daughters. We stayed in the peabody house, (the yellow one) in room 3. The room was very nice and big enough for a family. The trundle bed was very comfortable. Our phone did not work the first day, so I had to use a cell which was abit of a... more

My fiance and I booked a honeymoon suite, hoping for a relaxing and romantic night at the Salem Inn. I was incredibly excited to stay there for I love the history of Salem and the pictures on the website made the place look great. We were disappointed when we arrived into room 76 (wished we had read reviews from other... more
