Stayed here for one night on business recently. (Paid £70 for single occupancy of a double room.) Stayed here for 3 nights whilst on business locally. The room initially allocated to me was simply horrid, a double room, in the main old part of the hotel, dark & dingy and right above the bar area where the football commentary beamed out! not a good start, so i went back down to reception and asked for another room.... more

I have just stayed at The Bear for business purposes. I was in a single room which was not large but it was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. The staff were friendly, I would certainly consider staying here again. more

The Bear is typical of almost decrepit hotels thinking they are up with the best. I often wonder who writes those effusive reviews of places like The Bear. Cowbridge is a lovely town with grat shopping etc The Bear Hotel is an old building and so you have to accommodate for the odd creaky floor board or sloping walls. We spent last weekend at this quaint coaching Inn. The room was nice and clean, bigger than we had been expecting. We ate in the lovely 12th Century Restaurant and enjoyed a few of the real ales in the bar.
