We stayed at Altana a few years back, but after reading some negative reviews I wanted to post a quick review. The location of Altana is spectacular. I loved being at the top of the island. We did stay at other properties in Santorini, with a higher star rating, but I think if we went back we would choose Altana.... more

Altana is the only place we would stay at in Santorini! My wife and I had a fabulous trip to Greece, visiting Athens, Mykonos and finally Santorini. We always thoroughly research all our trips and made all our choices after extensively checking all reviews, especially on Trip Advisor. The great reviews for Altana were bang on! Santorini is a magical... more

Altana on Santorini was our first stop on our honeymoon, and what a wonderful way to start. We arrived without baggage due to some airline troubles, and the staff was truly upset and concerned that we were beginning our trip that way. They went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. We arrived just in time for sunset... more

We were on our honeymoon, and this was the highlight of our trip to Greece. Christos, Mario, and their mother were the friendliest, most helpful, most gracious hotel proprieters we met in Greece, perhaps in any country we've visited. The rooms were charming and comfortable. We had a wonderful view from our private terrace. Christos and Mario gave us great... more

After a long trip around the Greek islands, me and my fiance spent the last part of our holiday in Santorini at the Altana. Some family friends had recommended it. Arriving and seing that spectacular view from the top of the hotel (where an open-air jacuzzi pool was located!) was breathtaking. This place isn't your 'standard hotel', it has an... more

We were in Santorini for our honeymoon and got the honeymoon suite after seeing the beautiful pictures on the Website. As it turned out, the hotel was decent but the room, while at a gorgeous location at the top of the caldera, was tiny. The room costed us nearly EUR 400 a night and it had only one queen size... more

Dear travelers/readers and dear reviewer, We appreciate your consideration of the following information as the review clashes on various points with the practical reality of operations and standards of Altana and also importantly contains location inaccuracies. Regarding the interior jacuzzi of our Honeymoon Suite: Very importantly the water of all interior jacuzzis provided in the relevant room types at Altana...

The Altana was a great choice for Santorini. The area is remote, so if you are looking for that, it is perfect. The hotel itself is exceptional. All the rooms are different, and from what we saw, they were all great. The character of the hotel is very comfortable. Each room has a deck and it is the best spot... more

Dear readers/travelers, Thank you for your interest in Altana and for your time taken to read the information posted by us in this response. There is sadly a sincere doubt that the reviewer in this case might have indeed spent time at Altana, based on the following grounds: It is ImpossiblE that any first class / category hotel (4 stars...

Not all rooms are the worth the expensive price here, which can be disappointing. Also, you have to travel outside of Imerovigili for meals and activities, as there is no pedestrian community. more
