I'm not sure about the reviews that are negative about the Village Inn. My wife and I love it and have been to it many times over the years. Consistently a great place to eat and relax. more

We stopped here for our last meal on the island. The service was good, and the food was better than what we'd had at other places. We sat on the porch, which was a perfect place to people-watch. There was a slight horse smell that somewhat interefered with my enjoyment of my meal, but that's to be expected on an... more

We've had a whitefish dish (their famous dish) which we split (it was huge!) - which was excellent. Also have tried the french onion soup and a cherry cobbler - both very, very yummy! The only strange thing was that they brought us our soup and main dish at the same time...but we ate it all quickly since it was... more

I have been to most of the restaurants on Mackinac Island, and, having been in the food service industry for several years, I know what to expect from a decent restaurant. The Village Inn is undeniably the worst. Inside of the establishment there wafted an odor that could only be described as human vomit. Something like that doesn't do much... more

Amazingly I went here twice even though my first experience was awful. The first night I had bruschetta and that was bland and my server was very unattentive and rude. Friends wanted to go out again for dinner and this time I had the planked whitefish and I must say thank God for the salt and pepper shakers on the... more

My husband and I tried a few places on the island, and wished we would have tried this the first night. Great food, decent prices. He had the Perch dinner, and I the White Fish. Both were delicious. I had two cocktails, which were also very good. We ate breakfast there our last morning, and again VERY good food, good... more

The staff can be hit or miss here - one time we were greeted promptly and the waiter couldn't have been more attentive even though the place was packed. On a second visit we came at a time that was between the lunch crowd and the dinner rush, and we practically had to beg someone to seat us - and... more

August 22, 2007. We had breakfast at the Village Inn this morning. We both had the cinnamon french toast, she had ham as well. It was quite good and filling. The service was prompt and very friendly and we would go back again if the opportunity presented itself. more

We picked up on this from TripAdvisor and were very pleased with our choice. First time back on the island in 40 years and sitting on the porch drinking a glass of wine and watching the comings and goings was a wonderful and warm re-introduction to the island. When our planked whitefish came, it was excellent -- a coming home... more
