OH yes, this is what lunch in Charleston is all about. Imagine a group of 7 moms escaping their husbands, children and endless requests for happy meals for some female bonding. We were craving great, interesting food cooked and served by somebody other than ourselves. This was the treasure we had been seeking. Jestine's serves amazing southern low country food... more

It doesn't look like much, but it has the best southern cooking I have ever had. Be sure to get there early; otherwise you will stand in line. And the price is cheap!! more

I absolutely love Jestine's. When people come to visit me here in Charleston it's where we go for real Southern food. The pictures of Miss Jestine add to the fun atmosphere. The fried shrimp is my favorite. One friend of mine who visited from San Francisco wrote to tell me he can't eat shrimp anywhere else-Jestine's spoiled him. The vegetables... more

Famous food was well worth the trip. Fried green tomatoes were just above good, the corn fritters were amazing. Fried pork chop & fried pecan chicken were mouth watering. The Mac & Cheese was seriously disappointing. Desserts made up for it-cola cake a must. more

Even though we waited in a line outside the restaurant for Sunday lunch, it was worth it! Best Fried Chicken I've ever had! Brings a whole new meaning to Soul Food. Sweet Tea was excellent. Service was superb. Staff was very friendly. I would recommend this treasure to anyone! more

We stumbled into Jestine's around 3:30 and grabbed the last table available. So if you don't want to wait, try an odd time like that. The food was fantastic and very affordable! The corn bread was warm and fresh, chicken noodle soup was great, and the grilled cheese and tomato sandwich was the best I've ever had. The coconut creme... more

Hungry for lunch, my wife and I walked up Meeting Street checking out a series of restaurants that were recommended by the guide books and, of course, TripAdvisor. There were lines at every place, including Jestine's Kitchen, the last place on our list. We decided to go ahead and get in the line of about 20 people rather than walk... more

We arrived in Chaleston on Sunday evening and we passed Jestine's with a line-up outside. It was worth the wait. The food was quite good and gives you a good idea of southern cuisine. The "table wine" (aka sweet tea) was refreshing and plentiful. Our waitress was outstanding and very attentive. I had the pecan pie (best i've ever had)... more

I never add salt to my food but had to in this case to bring out the flavors. My husband loved his ham but i was unimpressed with the seasoning of the food. I just felt greasy when i left. However the service was great and it is in a very convenient location. I have to say we never tried... more

Charleston seems to have lots of great upscale places to eat, but so does Philadelphia! When I travel I want to eat at places that are truely native to the environment I am visiting. Justine's seem to be that type of place. Not too fancy, no deals with the tourist peddelers on the streets, but the food was reasomable anyway... more
