I agree with previous reviewers. The food was just ok. We should have ordered the malasadas. However, the best part was just hanging out and experiencing the local scene. more
Where the local's hang out. The plate lunches are great and reasonable and a must try is the Portuguese Malassadas, a square delicious yeast doughnut, brought to the islands by the Azorean and Madeiran folks who worked the sugar cane fields. The restaurant is located on the main road on the outskirts of Honoka'a. You cannot miss it. more
stopped here on the way back from Waipio Valley at the recommendation of a local. He told us to order the malasadas and they did not disappoint. They made them fresh and they were terrific warm. The other food was also good, but you can tell they are known for the Malasadas. more
We had high expectations of this eatery after the many raves – especially about the malasadas. Maybe it was a bad-hair day, but the local wrap (chicken and cabbage) and hamburger were well below par. Not much choice on New Year's Day and so we ate here. The food is cheap and taste that way. Steer away from the beef teriyaki. Too much carrot in the mac salad.Great location, they really should have someone redo their menu/recipes. more
Cute place and very popular. Friendly but sloooowww service. I was not nuts about the heavy, not very sweet, malasadas but our fish sandwiches were excellent. Would stop here again if not in a hurry. more
My husband I both had the teri beef plate lunches--not spectacular, but good. Large portions for very little money which is hard to come by on the Big Island. The malasadas were great! more
Not only were the malasadas great, the plate lunches were good too. The teri beef was well marinated and flavorful even though it was not soaking in teri sauce. This little place made a great lunch stop on our drive from Kona to the Waipio Valley and Hilo. Highly recommended local food! more
