The duck was too die for and my girlfriend could have. She is deathly allergic to some mushrooms and the tannins that they posess. I have been back to Jonathan's about once a year for the last 7 years. Some times are better or worse than others but I always tell myself,"For this money, I should have gone to Cafe Zack". Initially our dining experience started out very well. Our server was pleasant and the bread served with tampenade, oil and balsamic vinegar was very good. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of our meal. You quickly realize the shortcomings of the chef when your entree is served. This was a total pleasure. Really fine food -- the best crab bisque I've ever had. And first-rate paella. Also a good martini menu. Service was very good. All in all, a great experience. more
We had one day in Ventura. Didn't want to try the oceanview or harbor restaurants as they are generally overpriced, we know, we have plenty where I'm from in Santa Cruz.
