Thought Campo's was better and closer to the historic district. For cheesesteak on the South side of Philly, I expected more. Convenient to the Italian Market, but outdoor venue had dirty tables and the food was overly greasy. Good for what it was, but could have been a lot better. more

This place has sadly sold out. Just mediocre now. For people who are coming to the city, do not be lazy, go out and find some real Philly cheesesteaks. more

Just returned from our East Coast trip. Go to both Pat's and Geno's to compare. My personal opinion (after trying both) is that Geno's has the flavor, the atmosphere and the right attitude. If you want some authentic South Philly attitude wit your steak and don't care for cleanliness, go to Pat's. I never would have thought that Cheese Wiz... more

Know what you want by the time you get to the counter; I suggest "Whiz wit" (beef cheesesteak with grilled onions and cheez whiz). Being a Texan and having gotten over Cheez Whiz when I was 9, I was doubtful, but trust me, it's the most amazing condiment you could put on that steak! And don't forget the cheese fries... more
