We are staying at the Seabiscuit villa in Coral Bay in August. I called to aske if they have an alarm there and they don't. Should I reconsider? Has there been break-ins in Coral Bay? Thanks.

We've been to St John several times and although there are villa break-in's from time to time, I would consider it a safe island. Ask the villa rental company if there have been break in's in any of the villas nearby. Are you staying in a secluded area or are there other homes close by? Personally, I think you'll be fine, just use the same common sense security measures as you would when you're at home. Make sure all windows and doors are locked when you're out during the day and at night. If there is a gated entrance at the driveway, make sure that is locked at night and during the day even when your home. Our villa agency (carefree getaways) always asked us to do that as an extra precaution. I wouldn't reconsider, enjoy yourself and beautiful St John...if this is your first trip, I'm sure you'll return!

We are staying there in January. I can't wait! I have checked and there are villa's near by. I love that!!

I also travel with my own door alarms. I use them where ever I go and at home also. I haven't needed them but I sleep better knowing that I have them.

They are called: GE SmartHome Door Stop Alarms

Gina and NYPipeline-

We stayed in Seabiscuit in April, and it was perfect. Very safe, and so close to Lily's Mini mart, Aqua Bistro,Island Blues, Donkey Diner, and Skinny Legs, just to name a few places. You're gonna love it-enjoy!We're booking Island Horizons for Halloweencan't wait.

That is great to hear MJ! I had no doubts about the villa (: I LOVE all of the place that are close to catch a bite to eat. I did not research that at all so it is good to know!

We are all beginners and I have read that 6 paq is on the Coral side so I am hoping that we do a couple of beginner dives.

Thanks!!

We just got back last night. We stayed on Maria Bluff (Great Cruz Bay) area. There was a break-in nearby while we were there.

Use common sense and lock your doors when you aren't there. Lock your doors at night. Break-ins can happen where ever (area) you stay.
