I wanted everyone to know about our experience with Bibi Fleet. I am sure that everyone has there reason for selecting certain charters - names, size of fleet, etc. but we had a great time & would like to share this with you.

This was my son's graduation gift to go deep sea fishing and catch the "big" one. After lots of research I finally decided upon Bibi. They stayed in contact w/me prior to our trip and were prompt on replying to my questions. We were picked-up at our villa in the El Cid community and driven to the marina. I am ashamed to say that I can not recall the name of the gentleman who picked us up but he was very friendly, informative & even had coffee in the car. Upon arrival, the crew was ready for departure so there was not a lot of wasted time. We chose the single-engine and we were very satisfied. Within the hour of departing, my son (18 yrs old) had his first hit and it was a nice size Sailfish (7ft). 2 hours later my youngest son (8 yrs old) also hooked a Sailfish (9ft) and he reeled his fish in without giving up. The crew was there directing him and giving him the encouragement to not give in. They were the only 2 fish caught even though we kept circling a school of Mahi Mahi but I with the help of Bibi & the luck from above achieved my goal for my boys to catch their "big" one. I will definitely return to MAZ and will be fishing with Bibi in the future. In my opinion, the smaller companies give you the more personal attention where you're not just another paying customer.

Thanks for that great review. Although I am very satisifed with the Aries fleet when I consider a second choice I will have little apprehension about going with the Bibi fleet. I have heard several good reports for their outfit.

...and I'm sure that was a trip that your boys will tell their children about and the memory will remain vivid in their mind's eye for many, many years! Very cool!

Congradulations to the boys, I bet they had a ball & will remember this trip forever.

My fondest memories of my dad & brothers all include hunting or fishing trips.

Yeah it's been an off-year for fishing in Mazatlan but the big Dodos are finally showing up and the young ones are showing up at the bouys. The Billfish are yet to amke a strong showing though. I'll be there on October. Hopefully the fishing will be typical for October.

"MAZATLAN, MEXICO: Larry Edwards of Cortez Yacht Charters reported on Aries Fleet offshore charter boats out of Mazatlan's Marina El Cid, with a catch including released fish of: 6 sailfish, 7 blue marlin, and good numbers of dorado in the 15 to 20-pound class. Inshore super pangas caught easy Mexican sportfishing limits of dorado at the shark buoys. "The number of charters is very slow at Mazatlan, but the fishing has improved considerably," Edwards said. "The blue marlin have moved inside the 20-mile mark." The top boat for the week was the Aries II with Capt. Victor Munoz and 3 blue marlin landed. Mazatlan fishing area weather was rainy, but with no wind, calm seas, and the water temperature at 82 to 83 degrees both inshore and offshore. Live bonito baits were used for blue marlin."

Hooray! It sounds like the fishing is finally heating up in Mazatlan waters. I can't wait until I get to sample it myself in October.

Hello, My family will be going to Maz in August and are interested in chartering a boat. I have one question though. What do you do with the fish that is caught? Will restuarants cook it for you? do you bring some home? I guess I need some good ideas here. thanks, Debi

Most Every restaraunt in Mazatlan will cook your fish for you. I like to take mine to Costa Marinara. They will cook you up a feast at a very modest price. You can also bring them home in an ice chest.

I would also add that if you are staying at El Cid the El Concha restaraunt does a fine job with your fish also.
