I will be visiting San Diego next month (august 08) and I was planning while I'm there why not cross the border to Mexico by foot. I will be traveling with friends and my question is.. One of my friend is non-US citizen and he came to the US as Asylum or refugee that don't have passport of his country, but what he has is his greencard and a valid driver's license. Going to mexico by foot i heard there's no security to hold us, but what I am concern is going back to the US which will hold us. Is my friend going to have a problem? Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Before you cross to Mexico stop in the US Homeland Security office and ask.

Returning to the EE.UU. in Tij. is a nightmare.

It's not worth the trip, imhPo.

If he has a green card and DL he should be fine. However, I have to agree with the previous poster, Tijuana is not worth the trip and the hassle, and it's not really a good representation of Mexico.

If you go to the San Diego forum and search for Tijuana, you'll see the general opinion about it.
